The supermarket opens at 10am till 6pm and there aren’t many restaurants around :-). Gold base to explore the Nasenko trail as you can do day trips, I wish we had done that instead of moving everyday, you can take the train to the stations where the tracks start.

Offering a garden and city view, Guesthouse Gifu SUAI is situated in Gifu, 29 km from Nagoya Castle and 30 km from Nagoya Station. The location is a little far away from the main JR station/ meitetsu station but there are so many public transport lines all around the area. The host was also very kind to offer a pick up and drop off service when I arrived and when I left. The hosts were very kind, warm, and welcoming. Their animals were all very cute, especially the dog. The dorm room is only shared with another person and there is a large common area in the room as well as lockers with locks if needed. There is also a living room area and a fully equiped kitchen. The showers and toilets were all spotlessly clean and the water pressure and temperature was perfect. I highly recommend this guesthouse and will stay again if I visit again!

The interior decor is tastefully designed to every detail, surrounding nature is startlingly beautiful, and the host is warm and friendly.

It takes only a 8 minute walk to Takayama’s most famous street Sanmachi-dori. Takayama Ninja House features air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi throughout the property. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar. Private parking (1,000 yen per night) is available on site. Octavio is a great host. Speaks great english and is always willing to help. Hostel is located very closely to city center. Recommended

Located in 15-minute bus ride from JR Takayama Station, Guest House & Cafe SOY is surrounded by lush greenery. Free WIFi is provided and free private parking is available on site. The property also provides free pick-up service from JR Takayama Station. Free shuttle bus service is available when check-in, check-out, after dinner. The host Tai, was incredibly kind and generous with his time.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. The property offers free WiFi access in rooms and in public areas including the shared TV lounge and the terrace. Wonderful family run Auberge with beautiful comfy beds overlooking the forest. Lovely baths with gorgeous toiletries. A little out of town but a shuttle is offered for transportation. Fabulous dinner with a very unusual but delicious wine pairings. Breakfasts were delicious.

Guests at Guesthouse Tomaru can experience Japanese-style futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor in the private rooms. Dormitory rooms have futon bedding as well; bottom bunks sit directly on the tatami flooring, and top bunks use a wooden bunk bed frame. The owner is a sweet, clean room and very comfy overall. I thought I was just saving a little bit of cash for the trip but now I think I robbed the owner for paying so little.
