Guesthouse SHIGI is located in Nakatsugawa, 46 km from Gero Station, 7.7 km from Toson Memorial Museum, as well as 7.7 km from Magome Wakihonjin Museum. I loved staying at this guesthouse. The house is gorgeous, has rooms with tatami floors, and the beds are very comfortable. It has a very beautiful view of the mountains from the backyard, and it is conveniently located with restaurants around. The host is very kind and responsive. I definitely recommend staying here. It is also close to the train station.

In the Magome district of Nakatsugawa, close to Magome Wakihonjin Museum, Guest House Motomiya has a garden and a washing machine. A spacious and beautifully decorated Japanese-style room.  Meals at the level of Michelin stars.  The food is delicious to the mouth and to the eyes as well.  A welcoming hostess.  Breathtaking view.  What else does a person need to have fun?  We really enjoyed staying here.

Offering mountain views, Guesthouse Nedoko is an accommodation situated in Nakatsugawa, 200 metres from Magome Observatory and 100 metres from Magome Wakihonjin Museum. We loved our stay here before heading up to Tsumago. Cozy room with a writing desk overlooking a beautiful view of the mountains. Bathrooms and showers were very clean, nice breakfast/kitchen area.

Offering a garden and city view, Guesthouse Gifu SUAI is situated in Gifu, 29 km from Nagoya Castle and 30 km from Nagoya Station. We loved our stay in Gifu and the SUAI guesthouse! We needed a little break from big, crowded cities, so we decided to visit Gifu and we had the best time! The hosts were extremely kind and their hospitality made our stay even better. We got to try sleeping on futons and also got bikes from them to go around the city. Also, their dog is the cutest but don't worry if you don't like dogs, she has her little house and you don't really need to interact with her. ❤️

Offering a sun terrace and views of the garden, Tajimi Guest House is set in the middle of nature, 3 km from Tajimi Station. It’s a quiet location, which is nice. First time in years that I have slept without earplugs. Good to know: you can not bathe at the guesthouse. I was a bit scared of using the Onsen at first, but ended up loving it. The hosts are such nice people. They made my stay even better, thank you so much.

Located in 15-minute bus ride from JR Takayama Station, Guest House & Cafe SOY is surrounded by lush greenery. Free WIFi is provided and free private parking is available on site. Tai and family are the best hosts in Takayama and possibly the whole of Japan! You will not find another place like SOY with a comparable level of hospitality. Other than the complimentary shuttle to and from the train station, Tai and his family went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and we were well-taken care of. SOY was a quaint and charming guesthouse, with great views (especially in winter), and a ton of space for a large family - which we were. The entire place was very well furnished, and had amenities that were great for hanging out - like a movie room. Food at SOY is prepared with a lot of love and attention to detail, super tasty, and amazing. Tai would even help us call tour operators and restaurants to help us make reservations because some places only take reservations over phone and speak only Japanese.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. High end elegant place- most recommended

Just a 2-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and Takayama Nohi Bus Center, Guesthouse Tomaru offers an renovated 80-year old Japanese-style accommodation. Excelent host and info provided. Just 1 Block from makn station

A 6-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station, 力車イン Rickshaw inn offers non-smoking Japanese rooms and Western rooms with free Wi-Fi, an LCD TV and a private bathroom. A free-use kitchen is on site. Very nice place, clean and super nice staff!!

Situated in Takayama in the Gifu region with Fuji Folk Museum and Yoshijima Heritage House nearby, KAYA - Travel Easy, Explore Freely in Hida Tayakama! features accommodation with access to a sauna. Amazing location between the bus station/train station and the old town, close to lots of restaurant options. Incredibly clean (the shower absolutely sparkled!) and spacious for two people. Sleeping in the loft was quite warm in July, even with the AC on, but that is no fault of the property, just something to note. We really appreciated having a washer/dryer! Detergent was already preloaded in the machine, so we didn’t need our own.
