Really cute little touches as well. The staff were extremely friendly and the facilities were great too. My private room had everything I needed and again there was a cute welcome and thank you note. I’d definitely stay at the Guest House again.

Guesthouse SHIGI is located in Nakatsugawa, 46 km from Gero Station, 7.7 km from Toson Memorial Museum, as well as 7.7 km from Magome Wakihonjin Museum. We chose this property for its convenient access to Tsukechi and Yumori. Sakashita and the property are located near the main road, making it easy to find. Although we initially reserved one room, we were pleasantly surprised to have access to the entire house. It’s a lovely traditional home—old yet well-maintained. The host was wonderful and incredibly friendly. Overall, everything was great, and we had a delightful stay.

A guest house nestled in the centre of Takayama, Hostel Fish in a River features private parking, free WiFi, a garden and shared lounge. This is such a beautiful property! It was warm and cosy and probably the cleanest accommodation we've ever stayed in. The rooms are spacious and the mattresses are really big, we both had a very good night's sleep! You can walk to the hostel from the bus and train station and it's also 5 minute walk from a huge supermarket. There are also only a very small number of rooms available at the hostel so we were quite lucky to have seen and booked it. Thank you for all your kind hospitality, Taku! We will be back again!

Located in Takayama, 1.3 km from Takayama Station and less than 1 km from the centre, Takayama Ninja House provides air-conditioned accommodation with free WiFi, and a shared lounge. Everything was great! Octavio, "the ninja" owner, is very very nice and always ready to help. The Japanese style room was large and very comfortable. The shared bathroom was impeccably clean, large and modern and the time reservation system for the shower is very good, because you can be sure you have the bathroom all for yourself at the scheduled time. The welcome sake Octavio offered us when we arrived was a very nice touch, so were the toasts and coffee in the morning (try the orange jelly, it is perfect!). The location is good for sightseeing, you can walk everywhere. Takayama is a lovely city, definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
