Each room is equipped with a terrace with garden views and free WiFi. Very clean property with extremely well maintained amenities. There is also a laundromat downstairs and 2 convenience stores nearby making the location ideal in terms of efficiency. The host were also extremely hospitable and kind.

Magome is very special and it felt very unique sleeping here and being there at night with no tourists. The design of the hotel is also very nice. Everything worked perfectly and the staff was very kind and helped us with dinner reservations and with local recommendations. The Nakansendo trail to Tsumago was a highlight of our trip and I totally recommend spending a night/s here to do it :)

The husband and wife of the property live next door and were very kind and attentive to our needs. We were running late to see the Ukai show so that helped us with a speedy check in process. We have been on a motorcycle road trip and I can’t say how well we slept at this property. And they have a lovely dog that entertained us too. We will definitely be staying here again on our future road trips. I highly recommend staying here. Rooms are clean, showers are great, and great company. They have motorcycle parking too!

So kind and helpful couple who runs this unique architectural place - higly recommended for cultural travellers!

Located in 15-minute bus ride from JR Takayama Station, Guest House & Cafe SOY is surrounded by lush greenery. Free WIFi is provided and free private parking is available on site. The property also provides free pick-up service from JR Takayama Station. Free shuttle bus service is available when check-in, check-out, after dinner. Everything about this place was good. Tai came to pick up our luggage at Takayama station, so we could continue to Shirakawa-go. He even helped us get the bus tickets. He then came to pick us up, when we had to go to the hotel, so even though the hotel is a little outside of the city, it is absolutely no problem. Very good service and Tai is really kind. When we arrived, his mother welcomed us and we had a cup of tea in the lounge. It really felt like we were guests in their home. We also chose ourselves, when to have breakfast and when we wanted to go back to the station the morning after. The breakfast next to the small pond with koi fish was really nice. The hotel and the room itself were really beautiful and there is really nothing to complain about. We would definitely recommend this hotel because Tai and his family are very hospitable.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. The property offers free WiFi access in rooms and in public areas including the shared TV lounge and the terrace. The food and service were both amazing! Thank you so much. We had an amazing stay. One of the very few places we will come back to after 33 days in Japan

Guests at Guesthouse Tomaru can experience Japanese-style futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor in the private rooms. Dormitory rooms have futon bedding as well; bottom bunks sit directly on the tatami flooring, and top bunks use a wooden bunk bed frame. Staff is friendly and good in communication. Best place for international solo travelers to stay.
