Both Luis and his mother Anna were lovely, accommodating and couldn’t do more for us; from wrapping me up at the dock as we headed at night fall to bringing us hot water bottles in the night. Luis helped to arrange a tour for us to take us to Taquille Island and other parts of Lake Titicaca and the breakfast was delicious. We also had dinner whilst with them for an additional price which was basic but enjoyable.

In fact, I booked another trip to stay with them in 2 months with my family. One of the most important things I like is the excellent communication between the host and us before and during the stay, the ability to understand English makes things so much easier.

Small town with nothing to do other than seeing the Titicaca lake. We spent 2 nights because of the bus connections. If not for this, half a day suffice. It looks like a very poor city, but the people are ok and the food was good everywhere we went. To get around Puno you can easily got by foot out take the small tuck-tucks. The trip to the Titicaca floating islands is nice, but not worth the 2 days stay. Maybe if you plan for more days, try to get to Bolivia and visit the capital and the salt desert. Unfortunately we needed a visa for that and more than 2 days.
The only highlight for me in Puno was the lunch we had at the Mojsa restaurant at the Plaza De Armas which was one of the best we had in Peru. The tour to the floating islands is a pretty fake touristic experience and the city is not very nice, clearly has groen a lot recently. We went to the Bolivianen side of lake Titicaca afterwards which is double as nice, especially Isla Del Sol.
We did not know we needed a yellow fever certificate to go to Copacabana in Bolivia. You can get a shot at the local hospital but that sets us off another day. Puno has several tours and many sites to visit. It's high in altitude so good training for Cisco.
Good place to stay for visiting the lake and the islands. However, Puno itself is not particularly nice. Saying this, if you happen to stay for night we recommend the dinner and show at Balcones de Puno. Great food and entertainment.
Puno was a much better experience this time. In 2014 two men tried to pic pocket my camera. They did get my battery, but I got the camera back after chasing them down and demanding they return it in front of a crowd of people.
You should only stay here for 2 nights max. Arrive in the evening - do the overnight tour the next night and then catch an overnight bus when you return to Puno the following evening.
We only passed through Puno, spent the morning on the floating islands and as a result of some sltitude sickness spent the evening resting as we had a bus the next day
The city of puno itself was dirty, was a nice place to visit, loved the trip on the lake and meeting the locals on the floating reef island, also day trip the the islands in the middle of the lake was beautiful, much different to punch city itself, everything on the islands are well kept and the food which was cooked for us there was absolutely amazing. It’s a must to visit.
I really enjoyed Puno. Well worth spending a couple of days here. The Euros Islands are very touristy but worth a visit. The market near the wharf was excellent value and the sellers were good natured and not too pushy. Great mall and squares full of the usual shops and restaurants.
Puno has about two attractions worthy of maybe two day's visit... the Uros islands (half day trip is sufficient) and maybe the Sillustani tombs, unless you plan to visit Taquile & Amantani as well. Anything more (Mirador Kuntur Wasi) is just a time filler until it's time to board your bus. The rest of the city is not touristic or particularly pleasant and has not made the most of the neighbouring lake as much as nearby Bolivian towns (Copacabana) have. Like the rest of Peru, Puno has plenty of cheap street food, 5s/ set lunches, Chifa, Pollerias as well as more upmarket, tourist-focused Andean "fusion" restaurants.
Issac had great communication from the start and provided very easy instructions to and from Puno. We took a local taxi to the port as there was no Uber and the boat ride which is amazing was about 20 min. For an additional cost we opted for an amazing dinner brought to our room. Our fav was the bed which was the comfiest in all of Peru with a king size mattress. Sunset views are spectacular and the serene calm of the lake was an experience. Thank you to Issac and his family for all their hospitality and very warm welcome and goodbye.
Clean, spacious, well maintained room. Super friendly and hospitable staff at reception, especially Lupe who checked us in! Hotel is very close to main square and shops, so great location too. Good breakfast served on the top floor! Upon request, the hotel arranged to pick us up from Puno bus station too and the driver was extremely kind, friendly and patient with our bus delay and even helped us with bags. Arranged for same driver to also drop us off at Juliaca airport too, seamless and stress-free experience! Highly recommend.
The lobby and breakfast areas were very nice. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The shower had good hot water. The breakfast had a nice selection of fruit and other breakfast foods. We arrived in Puno early on the bus, and our tour wanted to pick us up at our hotel. We were booked at the hotel for the next night, but the hotel welcomed us in, let us hang out in the lobby, for 3 hours, let us eat breakfast (we paid 15 soles), and then stored our luggage for us until we returned the next day! They were so nice!
Easy to find. Safe and clean common areas and room. No hot water at first, but spoke to guy at the desk, and he had it going in a few minutes. Then it was great with nice pressure. Breakfast was simple but good. Fruits, eggs, bread, selections of juices, ham and cheese. Only stayed one night between the train from Cusco and a flight to Lima. Hotel booked a tour of the floating islands as well as airport transfer. I would definitely recommend or stay again if I ever return to Puno.
The room was exactly like in the pictures. The owner shared with us many useful information (how to get around the city, how to reach the airport), he booked for us a good, well priced tour to Uros island. The accomodation was worth every cent. It offers great value for money. The breakfast was above expectations for Peruvian standards. We felt welcome and we wouldn't hesitate to book again if coming back to Puno. This place truly deserves it's rating.
Félix was such an amazing host, who took care of us from the moment of coming to Puno to the moment of our departure. The way we were welcomed, we felt more like guests than clients. Félix showed us around the community, spent a lot of time explaining the history and traditions, and also booked additional trips for us. It was certainly a special moment during our trip in Peru, so would definitely recommend anyone staying at Uros Amaru Marka Lodge.
Cesar and his family provides us a very lovely stay at his island! We loved everything about our stay and would like to come again once a while! We arrived with the Peru Hop Bus very early in the morning at puno and Cesar arranged a taxi that picked us directly at the bus stop and brought us to the port where Cesar picked us with his boat and brought us to his island! Best pick up service of our stay in Peru!
Best night we had during our time in Peru. The view on the Titicaca at night and in the morning is unparalleled. Wilson and Lisbeth are a lovely couple who treated us like we were part of the family. Rich dinner and breakfast. The morning after we had to be at the port of Puno at 6:30. W&L took us to shore and arranged our ground transportation to the port. 10/10 would definitely recommend
The hotel had a good breakfast, enough space in the bedroom and a small table to use our computer. It was near Plaza de Armas, where we could find a nice restaurant for lunch. The attendants were helpful and lent us a pair of umbrellas since it was raining a lot in Puno. The room also had a heater, which is quite convenient in the chilly weather that normally Puno has.
I got a twin room with a private bathroom with breakfast included (a simple ham or cheese sandwich with tea) for the price of a dormitory bed at most places in Peru. The owners are also very friendly and helpful, they have a tour agency with the hostel that offers the lowest price I could find for tours in Puno. Would recommend!
I would recommend this hotel and the room with the lake view to all that want to relax, enjoy the Titicaca and avoid the chaotic and a bit unpleasant nature of Puno. The hotel is clean, there is heating and hot water of course, their restaurant is superb. There are alpacas and wild guinea pigs in the beautiful hotel garden.
The hotel is two blocks from the Cathedral plaza - location is perfect. The staff was super helpful. It was a great value for the cost and it fulfilled our expectations for Puno. Breakfast was good, and the staff can help you booking a tour to the Uros and Taquile. It worked out very well.
The hotel itself is very centrally located making it easy to explore Puno and the Plaza on foot and easy for taxi pickups for any day trips. The staff was very friendly, the restaurants nearby were great and the breakfast that comes with your stay was wonderful. We would stay there again.
Puno
Great value for money in Puno. After 2 days on the floating islands this was exactly what we needed. Hotel looks new and clean, clean room, hot shower, heater in the room, thick windows to block street noise, close to the center and normal breakfast with the lake and city view. Thanks!
- Securely stored our luggage whilst we went on a 2-day Islands tour on Lake Titicaca - Basic but good breakfast (freshly-cooked eggs, fruit juices, coffee/teas, and 2 varieties of rolls with jam and butter) - Clean and hot shower - 5-minute walk to the centre of Puno
Great location right downtown. Close to shopping and restaurants. Very helpful staff. The staff gave us a “to-go” breakfast as we has to catch an early bus. Recommend if staying in PUNO. The shower was the best shower we had in Peru and Bolivia on our travels.
This hotel is well-designed and comfortable. The staff provides excellent service and very attentive to the needs of the guests. The manager, Michael Edison was very helpful and gave a walking tour of the neighborhood and the nearby town of Puno.
The hotel exceeded my expectations. The location was very good while exploring Puno and Lake Titicaca and the staff were excellent and always on hand to help. The hotel restaurant was also very good and really well priced. Would definitely stay again.
One corner to Plaza del Arma ane 8 min walk to the train station. The Hotel and rooms are very clean. Wonderful and profesional staff always ready to help. Great breakfast. I would certainly go back again when I'm in Puno.
1. Location is the center of Puno. 8 sol for taxi if you take taxi from turismo mer bus terminal. 2. Hotel seems to be a little bit old, but the furniture and decor are stylish 3. Heater in the room. 4. Spacious and clean
