Both Luis and his mother Anna were lovely, accommodating and couldn’t do more for us; from wrapping me up at the dock as we headed at night fall to bringing us hot water bottles in the night. Luis helped to arrange a tour for us to take us to Taquille Island and other parts of Lake Titicaca and the breakfast was delicious. We also had dinner whilst with them for an additional price which was basic but enjoyable.

Puno itself doesn't have much to see. If you arrive on the overnight bus from Cusco it leaves you in the bus terminal at a silly hour in the morning. Either be prepared to wait for the city to wake up or book a hotel for a few hours so you have somewhere warm to go for breakfast / have a snooze. We booked an Uros homestay for one night which was absolutely fascinating. It was one of the highlights of my 3 week trip to Peru & I'd definately recommend Unfortunately we didn't get enough time to go round the other islands but it is somewhere I'd like to go back and spend more time exploring in future
I only stayed for one day and went on a tour to the Uros islands and tequile island. The lake is beautiful, but Puno is quite cold! There's a main tourist area near the plaza with restaurants and stores.
We just stayed in Puno overnight on our way to Isla Suasi, at the other side of the lake Titicaca. But we enjoyed the city, especially the Mojsa restaurant, right in front of the Cathedral (Plaza de Armas), where I ate the best lamb I've ever eaten in my life. Great service as well.
The tours need to go back to the way things were, using the old boats and taking folks to see what they pay for. Using these modern boats take away from the experience. I visited Puno before, Puno needs to get cleaned and the buildings need to be finished.
Puno was much less croweded like Cusco during high season. Folks were sweet and helpful. The size of the town made it easier to get around. Elevation is crucial so prepare before hand or expect to get sick. You can also find medicine which you should do ASAP. Puno was my favorite between the other two cities we visited Cusco and Lima.
One of the main reasons to vist Puno is because it has access to Lake Titikaka. The lake houses the floating islands, although it has become quite commercialised it is well worth a visit to Los Uros to observe these floating reed islands. Sillustani which is just outside of Puno is also a good trip to observe the ancient burial sites.
Puno's location is ideal for stopping over a night in between travel destinations including Cusco, Lake Titicaca, the Colca Canyon and Valley, and The south coast of Peru.
Puno has a lovely plaza, great food, and is a base for exploring the floating Islas Uros, Sillustani funerary towers, islands Taquile and/or Amantani, and the Capachica peninsula. 3 or four days in Puno would be ideal.
Puno is culturally lively town. The people make the experience all the better. The culture worn proudly is rich and vibrant. Puno is an excellent experience of the past and present.
Issac had great communication from the start and provided very easy instructions to and from Puno. We took a local taxi to the port as there was no Uber and the boat ride which is amazing was about 20 min. For an additional cost we opted for an amazing dinner brought to our room. Our fav was the bed which was the comfiest in all of Peru with a king size mattress. Sunset views are spectacular and the serene calm of the lake was an experience. Thank you to Issac and his family for all their hospitality and very warm welcome and goodbye.
Clean, spacious, well maintained room. Super friendly and hospitable staff at reception, especially Lupe who checked us in! Hotel is very close to main square and shops, so great location too. Good breakfast served on the top floor! Upon request, the hotel arranged to pick us up from Puno bus station too and the driver was extremely kind, friendly and patient with our bus delay and even helped us with bags. Arranged for same driver to also drop us off at Juliaca airport too, seamless and stress-free experience! Highly recommend.
Spacious rooms, comfortable beds. Great for a good night sleep in Puno against a fair price. Puno itself was quite lively. We read up front there would not be too much to do, but we quite liked the Puno atmosphere for the one night. However, if you want to really experience Titicaca lake as well, make sure you book a 2 night stay with a family on the islands. This is a WAY better experience than doing a daytour and you'll actually learn about the life of the Uros people.
Beautiful lodge in the Uros areas. Carlos did a lot of work to improve the living conditions for guests and the result is just amazing! Comfy bed, room with sunset and sunrise view, calm and relaxing! Carlos and family are lovely people! Well located, only 15 minutes boat ride from Puno port. Staying overnight in Uros, talking to the community here is an unique experience! We highly recommend anyone interested in the culture and history of Peru to stay in Uros!
The room was exactly like in the pictures. The owner shared with us many useful information (how to get around the city, how to reach the airport), he booked for us a good, well priced tour to Uros island. The accomodation was worth every cent. It offers great value for money. The breakfast was above expectations for Peruvian standards. We felt welcome and we wouldn't hesitate to book again if coming back to Puno. This place truly deserves it's rating.
Lovely hotel with outstanding views. The location just outside Puno was great, only a short inexpensive taxi ride into town. We spent a night on the uros islands in a homestay prior to our stay here and the hotel is right next to the port used for the pick up and drop off. Breakfast at this hotel is outstanding, best in our month in Peru. Loved the jacuzzi in the spa area. Staff were very helpful and service was excellent. Overall a great 5 star stay.
Félix was such an amazing host, who took care of us from the moment of coming to Puno to the moment of our departure. The way we were welcomed, we felt more like guests than clients. Félix showed us around the community, spent a lot of time explaining the history and traditions, and also booked additional trips for us. It was certainly a special moment during our trip in Peru, so would definitely recommend anyone staying at Uros Amaru Marka Lodge.
This is a great hotel. It's located a short walk from the cute main plaza. The rooms have been very nicely decorated, including the bathroom that has a very hot shower with good pressure. It is very clean and quiet. The staff are very helpful and speak English. There are a lot of blankets for the cold nights. We would stay here again when in Puno. We had to leave early before breakfast, but it was in a nice restaurant style room.
Cesar and his family provides us a very lovely stay at his island! We loved everything about our stay and would like to come again once a while! We arrived with the Peru Hop Bus very early in the morning at puno and Cesar arranged a taxi that picked us directly at the bus stop and brought us to the port where Cesar picked us with his boat and brought us to his island! Best pick up service of our stay in Peru!
Best night we had during our time in Peru. The view on the Titicaca at night and in the morning is unparalleled. Wilson and Lisbeth are a lovely couple who treated us like we were part of the family. Rich dinner and breakfast. The morning after we had to be at the port of Puno at 6:30. W&L took us to shore and arranged our ground transportation to the port. 10/10 would definitely recommend
Very confortable stay. We even extended for one night. Confortable beds, great view on the lake, good facilities, hot water, heating, good breakfast. The best hotel in Peru so far. Puno is a chaotic, not very nice city so it is a good thing that the location is at the outskirts. We had a rented car so it was not a problem for us to move around.
I got a twin room with a private bathroom with breakfast included (a simple ham or cheese sandwich with tea) for the price of a dormitory bed at most places in Peru. The owners are also very friendly and helpful, they have a tour agency with the hostel that offers the lowest price I could find for tours in Puno. Would recommend!
I would recommend this hotel and the room with the lake view to all that want to relax, enjoy the Titicaca and avoid the chaotic and a bit unpleasant nature of Puno. The hotel is clean, there is heating and hot water of course, their restaurant is superb. There are alpacas and wild guinea pigs in the beautiful hotel garden.
Puno
Great value for money in Puno. After 2 days on the floating islands this was exactly what we needed. Hotel looks new and clean, clean room, hot shower, heater in the room, thick windows to block street noise, close to the center and normal breakfast with the lake and city view. Thanks!
- Securely stored our luggage whilst we went on a 2-day Islands tour on Lake Titicaca - Basic but good breakfast (freshly-cooked eggs, fruit juices, coffee/teas, and 2 varieties of rolls with jam and butter) - Clean and hot shower - 5-minute walk to the centre of Puno
Great location right downtown. Close to shopping and restaurants. Very helpful staff. The staff gave us a “to-go” breakfast as we has to catch an early bus. Recommend if staying in PUNO. The shower was the best shower we had in Peru and Bolivia on our travels.
The hotel exceeded my expectations. The location was very good while exploring Puno and Lake Titicaca and the staff were excellent and always on hand to help. The hotel restaurant was also very good and really well priced. Would definitely stay again.
Great hotel on main square in Puno. Handy up everything. Very helpful staff and very accommodating when we needed to change plans last minute. Spacious, comfy rooms. Bathrooms a little tired but totally functional. Good breakfast.
One corner to Plaza del Arma ane 8 min walk to the train station. The Hotel and rooms are very clean. Wonderful and profesional staff always ready to help. Great breakfast. I would certainly go back again when I'm in Puno.
1. Location is the center of Puno. 8 sol for taxi if you take taxi from turismo mer bus terminal. 2. Hotel seems to be a little bit old, but the furniture and decor are stylish 3. Heater in the room. 4. Spacious and clean
