Attractively situated in the Higashiyama Ward district of Kyoto, Tassel Hotel Sanjo Shirakawa is located 600 metres from Samurai Kembu Kyoto, 1 km from Heian Shrine and 1.3 km from Gion Shijo Station.... Huge comfortable room in hotel right next to subway exit. Beautiful view of the river, very quiet. Loved the light dimmers. The bathroom was exceptional. Rainhead and washing shower heads. Bath nice and deep. The free coffee and other drinks are great in the lobby sitting area. Nice place to eat your food or just relax after a hectic day in Kyoto. Wonderful beds. Excellent value for money.

The resort hotel in Kyoto and offering free WiFi throughout, The Westin Miyako features indoor pool, a fitness center and spa treatments. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The spa and buffet was amazing!

We are grateful of the authentic connection the hosts offered to make with us as travelers, bringing us warmth in a country where genuine openness can sometimes feel rare

Yuki san and Tadashi san are very accommodating, and super nice. Tadashi san even went to a nearby event at the same time as us and was sweet enough to translate for us when we didn't understand directions. The facilities are very nice and very good value for money. The hosts also have very thorough and in my opinion very good advice for local hikes/attractions and restaurants! And the view of the temple from the western style room is phenomenal.

Hotel Material er staðsett í Kyoto, 800 metra frá Heian-helgiskríninu og býður upp á herbergi með ókeypis WiFi. This was our favorite place we stayed on our trip. Material is a great little boutique hotel with lots of charm. By Japan Standards our room was actually fairly large and had a great industrial mixed with Japanese traditional feel to it. Despite facing a major road, road noise was minimal, the location was a short walk from the nearest subway station and was comparatively short walks from many of the top tourist locations in the city. We walk a lot on trips in general (approximately 10 miles a day on average) so of course this is all relative. Our room was a 3rd floor walk up so it probably wouldn't be ideal for those with mobility issues. We ate at Detail ramen, the restaurant that shares the ground floor with the hotel, twice on during our stay and were quite happy with the meals we had! Be sure to look at their hours if you want to make that a part of your stay and keep in mind that the restaurant is cash only and their ticket ordering machine only accepts the older bills (at least at the time of writing this). Overall the hotel staff were very friendly and patient with us when we needed to use google translate for the few things language barrier got in the way of. The premises was quiet and just generally really lovely. It was the only hotel we stayed in during our trip to Japan that we actually felt excited about spending time in. Because we found the room so pleasant we ended up changing around our itinerary a bit to get up early and go out to see and photograph sites before sunrise, come back to the hotel for a mid day rest and nap before going out in the afternoon to evening for more site seeing or shopping. We also spent a couple evenings enjoying some drinks we purchased at the Lawsons about a block away on the rooftop while watching the sun set, talking and reconnecting. For the right kind of traveler this place is an absolute gem in balance between affordability, comfort, and location.
