Overall a great experience and a highlight of our trip - amazing host, excellent dinner and breakfast (make sure to order these when staying here!), very cozy Japanese-style rooms. Good location, too - very peaceful neighborhood, but still close to all the sights. We'll be sure to stay here again next time we're in Nara!

Basic Japanese-style rooms overlook the temple compound, and feature a tatami (woven mat) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. They are fitted with air conditioning and a safe. Staying here was a wonderful experience for our family, including 3 kids, ages 10, 15, 17. The location was magical and serene, the food delicious and unique. Wish we could have stayed longer to participate in more of the educational opportunities. Took a train, then a local bus as close as we could and then walked the last 3/4 mile, which worked out fine since we only had day packs on us, but you may want to plan your transportation ahead of time if this wouldn't work for you.

Free WiFi is available at the entire building. everything was over the top! the place is beautiful, we stayed in the new rooms which the design is another league, keeping the Japanese style, with mountains views. The meal service was the best experience I had in Japan, also traditional. The staff is hyper kind. Is the best Ryokan experience I had. Definitely will be back!

Great place to stay to have easy access to Nara park and the forest trail. Room was huge and had a private bathroom.

At the ryokan, each unit comes with a tatami and a TV. At the ryokan, all units have a shared bathroom with slippers and free toiletries. The greeting we got on arrival was nothing but friendly. The lady who runs it doesn’t speak English, but understands little bits (we used Google translate for longer sentences). She’s such a lovely lady and very welcoming, showed us around the Ryokan and the facilities. The shower room is amazing with its hot bath! We loved staying in a traditional Japanese room with tatami flooring and the comfy futon beds, and the views from our window of the city was gorgeous! Definitely want to make a return visit and stay for longer :)

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Everything was outstanding: so quiet and typical, private room for the meals, incredibly kind personnel, remote place, access to the japanese wilderness (trek, torrent, forrest...)

This place was exactly what I was looking for. A quiet ryokan with a private tattoo-friendly onsen. My room was big and the futon was very comfy. I appreciated the complimentary water and a kettle to make tea. Everything was so good, thank you! I will definitely come back.
