The picturesque Japanese-style guest house Hotobil B&B 潤 An inn that enjoys breakfast is centrally located in Nara, 10 minutes by taxi from JR Nara Station. Thank you very much for the kind welcome! We really enjoyed our stay here, the beds were particularly comfortable and we adored the kotatsu, looking into buying one in the future hahaha. The breakfast was fab, really appreciated the more traditional Japanese breakfast! Also thanks so much for bringing us our forgotten items after we had left for a few minutes, our forgetful selves are very appreciative! :)

The accommodation facility of Gyokuzoin Temple features a hot public bath. The hotel is located in Mount Shigisan and houses a souvenir shop and drinks vending machines. Staying here was a wonderful experience for our family, including 3 kids, ages 10, 15, 17. The location was magical and serene, the food delicious and unique. Wish we could have stayed longer to participate in more of the educational opportunities. Took a train, then a local bus as close as we could and then walked the last 3/4 mile, which worked out fine since we only had day packs on us, but you may want to plan your transportation ahead of time if this wouldn't work for you.

A 12-minute walk from the Kintetsu Nara Train Station, Hotel New Wakasa offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami (woven-straw) flooring. Really friendly, welcoming staff with good English, welcomed us with tea, showed us to our rooms and advised us about the local areas. Cypress room private onsen was incredible, we booked this in advance (around £25 for an hour) at sunset and had incredible views. One of my favourite onsen experiences of the trip. Public onsen spaces are also nice with multiple baths. Really close to the Nara parks and can easily walk into town for food.

Tsukihitei is located in the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The food experience was very unique, the team was very helpful to accommodate my requests and did their best to make sure my stay was smooth!

Located in Ikoma and only 8.8 km from Iwafune Shrine, Kanko Ryokan Yamato provides accommodation with city views, free WiFi and free private parking. Yamato may not be the closest to Osaka, but it is still pretty close to Ikoma station from where you can take the Kintetsu line into the city. The area around the ryokan is amazing, but warning - the stairs going up to it are only easy downwards :D Yamato itself is amazing, it has everything for the traditional ryokan experience - tatami, futon, onsen and yukata. The owner is super nice and she even asked her husband to help me with my big luggages, thank you so much! I would definitely come back here if I'm in the area!

Kadojin features mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Tenkawa. The property has garden and inner courtyard views. It's the best accommodation! Big room and private hot springs! All the staff were so kind. Dinner&breakfast was good quality and obviously delicious. I didn't even want to check out forever. I definitely will book again.

Set in Yoshino and only 38 km from Subaru Hall, Yoshinoonsen Motoyu offers accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. very kind, warm and welcoming staff! very cozy and serene place to stay, highly recommend!

Located in Tenkawa, Misenkan offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. This 2-star ryokan offers luggage storage space. Guests can enjoy river views. The meals are the best of our whole trip in Japan. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is nested by the creek yet right across the street from the bus stop. The location is perfect. The host gave us a ride to the nearby public Onsen and gave us a tour to the Tenkawa Daibenziten-Sha Shrine, where the Emperor of the Southern Court had lived around 700 years ago. We took a less than two-hour scenic hike to the Dorogawa Onsen village, and 25 minutes bus back. Loved their private bath which includes both indoor and outdoor tubs all to yourself but needs to book with the host.

吉野荘湯川屋 Yoshinosou Yukawaya in Yoshino provides adults-only accommodation with an open-air bath and a garden. Featuring free private parking, the 3-star ryokan is 38 km from Subaru Hall. Everyone was very kind and the food was delicious!
