This place is a GEM! We loved everything about our stay at Kurumiya. The staff is so dedicated and friendly. They really care about offering the best service. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms are very nice, stocked with nice amenities and we made good use of the private Onsen after walking all day. Its a small boutique hotel decorated with taste and with attention to details, it is perfectly located so you can walk everywhere to the main attractions in Kanazawa. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Wow, this place is truly amazing and went above and beyond to make our stay in Kanazawa perfect. First, the location is in the historic Higashi Chaya District, allowing you to stay in an area with incredible character and beauty. It is within walking distance to other famous sites in the city including Kanazawa Castle, Kenroku-en, and Omicho Market. The facilities are amazing--beautifully maintained and restored, with both historic character and modern amenities. We truly appreciated the fact that a washer/dryer combo was in the room and there was washing detergent available as well. The very modern bathroom made us feel like we were at a spa. I loved the fact that the sleeping area was partitioned off from the dining room/kitchenette area. The futon beds were sooooo comfortable. The kitchenette area was well stocked with supplies including a microwave and induction stove for those who wanted to make something themselves. The morning breakfast was also phenomenal and probably the biggest surprise of our stay. It was absolutely delicious and one of our favorite meals during the trip. We loved the pastries and even took a detour in our site seeing day to visit the bakery they came from as we were so impressed with pastries served during breakfast. But what really sets Utaimachi apart was the INCREDIBLE staff. From check in to check out, each team member went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay and were comfortable. They gave us wonderful advice for getting around the city and helped us ship our luggage to our next hotel location. They truly went above and beyond to make our journey to and from Kanazawa smooth and stress free. Thank you so much Utaimachi for a wonderful stay and for all of your generous hospitality!

The house is really cosy and the room I was in was really great. It felt like being at home and not in a hotel. It was so refreshing. The staff was welcoming, even though I didn’t really have time to speak too much with them but it was on me. They encourage me to use anything in the common room and were there for any questions I could have.

Boasting a 200-year history, Motoyu Ishiya features classic architecture, an original Noh stage and a garden. Perfect slow down stop after a week travelling Japan! Traditional Japanese hospitality at its best, lovely ryonkan not far from Kanazawa. We were travelling with ouf 8 months son and the staff did a fantastic job trying to accomodate our needs. The location is amazing. The guesthouse is about 2 minutes walking from Higashiyama district and another 2 minutes walking from the river promenade. If you like walking you can also walk to Kenrokuen (about 20 minutes). We didn't use the bus while being there. The guesthouse decoration is lovely. It feels like stepping into a museum! :D You can tell that the hosts really love their house and they want everything to be perfect :D Finally, the hosts are very nice and helpful!! Staff were very helpful and friendly to a point of stressing us because they literally watched us entered our car. Very kids friendly too! The outdoor private onsen was so good we were in the room most of the time! Kaiseiki meals were awesome my kids were asking if could stay longer. Overall a very good experience and the best ryokan we stayed in! If you need to do laundry, there is coin laundry about 5-10 mins walk away. Did I mention? They have a very pretty garden too!
