The hotel has a quiet beauty right out of a postcard, the staff are amazing and the food sublime. They did everything to make our stay perfect. The food is one of the best I ever had at a hotel, but western travellers should make sure to set expectations regarding the food which is very japanese, it was always interesting and perfectly executed but pushed us to our limits in some cases :)

Boasting open-air hot spring baths and ocean views, Wakamatsu Hot Spring Resort is a 15-minute drive from JR Hakodate Station. Free parking is available on site. This was our absolute favorite hotel during our entire trip to Hokkaido! The hotel is incredibly beautiful, with aesthetic details everywhere you look. Everything was spotlessly clean, and all the staff were so kind and welcoming. You can even book a private hot spring, which was such a special experience! We chose the breakfast-included option, and it was absolutely amazing—so delicious and abundant. On top of that, the restaurant’s view was breathtakingly beautiful. Our room was simply perfect—we loved it so much! It was spacious, beautifully designed, and had a stunning view of the ocean right outside. We are already looking forward to coming back again in the future! Thank you so much to the Wakamatsu and all the wonderful staff for giving us such a memorable stay. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

Surrounded by lush nature, luxury Japanese-style hotel Niseko Kombu Onsen Tsuruga Mokunosho features a hot spring bath and rooms with mountain views and free Wi-Fi, some with a private open-air bath. The property was very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was huge and comfortable! We booked the room with onsen in the room so we had our private onsen experience.

Hotel Kifu Hotel Shiretoko is a 10-minute drive from Shiretoko National Park, which is assigned as a UNESCO World Heritage. This is a wonderful place, well managed and with love. The architecture of the house is modern with traditional Japanese elements. The rooms are comfortable with beautiful views. The dinner and the breakfast is delicious. It is conveniently located to explore splendid Shiretoko and to have a unique taste of Japanese hospitality.

We loved the Japanese breakfast and dinner that was prepared by the owners. We loved the authentic traditional charm, the decor and everything else!

Tsuruga Besso Hinanoza offers a luxurious Japanese hot-spring experience on the shores of Lake Akan. Lake Akan is a well conserved nature reservation. It is serene and beautiful. Akan Tsuruga Besso Hinanoza is on a different level. Its the epitome of Japanese hospitality. Technically for the price we paid, it is half board. Almost all F&B is included (except certain expensive sakes). We were offered an extensive range of wines and sake over dinner as part of the dinner package included, and dinner was exquisite. Breakfast was amazing. We had hot steaming Japanese rice with an unlimited serving of salmon roe. There was also grilled fish and lots of side dishes. Onsen in the room was lovely and the outdoor onsen at level 7 is a once in a lifetime experience!
