Located in the sacred Koyasan area, Saizenin offers simple accommodation surrounded by mountains and many temples. The place is beautiful. Its peaceful and surrounded by nature, but very close to center of yown and all the important spits. You can get anywhere walking. The staff and the monks are nice friendly and very helpful, even with us non japanese speakers, they were so patient and go the extra mile to make you feel at home. Especially enjoyed the onsen. At night, you can hear the rain and the frogs, loved it! The breakfast was amazing!

A 1000 year-old Buddhist temple, Shukubo Koya-san Eko-in offers Japanese-style accommodation, a beautiful garden and free WiFi. Amazing place - absolute MUST! Thanks again to the amazingly friendly monks… out of this world!

Set within less than 1 km of Sanjusangen-do Temple and 2 km of TKP Garden City Kyoto, Vegan Minshuku Sanbiki Neko offers rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Kyoto. Very nice, clean room and spacious bath tub, which is nice to have after exploring Kyoto all day. The owners are friendly and prepare a delicious and filling breakfast, during which you may be greeted by the cats that also live there.

Featuring 3-star accommodation, 高野山 宿坊 大明王院 -Koyasan Shukubo Daimyououin- is set in Koyasan, 45 km from Matsushita Park and 47 km from Subaru Hall. Staying here was one of my favorite experiences on the trip. I enjoyed the morning prayer and the cemetery near by. The food suprised and delighted.

Offering a garden and garden view, 高野山 宿坊 龍泉院 -Koyasan Shukubo Ryusenin- is set in Koyasan, 45 km from Matsushita Park and 47 km from Kii Fudoki No Oka Museum of Archaeology and Folklore. Staying in a temple was a great experience. The temple was gorgeous, the monks were welcoming, the food was delicious, and the room was big and comfortable. We were invated to participate in the morning ceromony. I appreciated that they provided explanations afterwards so that we could fully enjoyed it.
