Located in the sacred Koyasan area, Saizenin offers simple accommodation surrounded by mountains and many temples. The place is beautiful. Its peaceful and surrounded by nature, but very close to center of yown and all the important spits. You can get anywhere walking. The staff and the monks are nice friendly and very helpful, even with us non japanese speakers, they were so patient and go the extra mile to make you feel at home. Especially enjoyed the onsen. At night, you can hear the rain and the frogs, loved it! The breakfast was amazing!

Helen and Craig are very nice and thoughtful hosts. They were very kind, one of the days I had to leave before breakfast time so I would miss it and they made sure I had something delicious I could take away the next morning so that made me very happy. All of the products they use are vegan (soap, conditioner, shampoo,etc). My room had a huge closet and I could fit my suitcases in it so they weren’t in the middle of the room, I had a little balcony and private bathroom in my room which is very rare in B&B. They offer Japanese style breakfast, made with love and it has all the details, it was so delicious and filling. I stayed with a non vegan japanese friend and he even said he would turn vegan if he could get that food everyday!☺️ I wish I stayed for longer in Kyoto! I’ll be back💜🌱

Featuring 3-star accommodation, 高野山 宿坊 大明王院 -Koyasan Shukubo Daimyououin- is set in Koyasan, 45 km from Matsushita Park and 47 km from Subaru Hall. We wanted to have a traditional experience as such. We loved the atmosphere. It calmed us down very quickly. The entity is managed by very little stuff. But they do their best to serve the small amount of guests well. Therefore one feels very familiar and cozy. In order to embrace every detail we recommend to join the morning ceremony and to visit the onsen. As a vegetarian I had no problem trying the whole menu provided. One could see that it’s been made with love. The rest of my family did not really enjoy the food, but also tried almost everything out of respect.

Offering a garden and garden view, 高野山 宿坊 龍泉院 -Koyasan Shukubo Ryusenin- is set in Koyasan, 45 km from Matsushita Park and 47 km from Kii Fudoki No Oka Museum of Archaeology and Folklore. This temple really feels magical. The monks were very welcoming and professional. I liked how the temple is not commercial at all, and feels like a very local experience. The rooms are big and comfortable. As a solo female traveller I overall felt safe. The meals (dinner and breakfast) are typical Japanese vegetarian courses, served in very beautiful rooms. The service in the early morning was very interesting and insightful. I appreciated that there were both Japanese visitors and foreign visitors and the monks gave us an explanation in English.

Hosts are very kind and fully available. We spent a wonderful stay.
