Located in the sacred Koyasan area, Saizenin offers simple accommodation surrounded by mountains and many temples. I loved everything. The location, the temple itself, THE FOOD, the staff, my room, the bath, and did I mention the food?! Joining the morning prayer was a beautiful experience, I left the temple happier and lighter. A must if you're staying in Koyasan!

Helen and Craig were amazing hosts. Very kind and authentic people. We enjoyed spending time with them and their 3 cats. The rooms were spacious and clean and had excellent air control.

Amazing place to stay. The morning prayer was definitely a highlight. Loved all of it. The temple is beautiful, with amazing gardens. The room was also very nice, spacious and well equipped. Staff was very kind. Dinner was served in a private dining room, the food was very nice (but if you cant eat Japanese food definitely bring something to eat as you cant buy anything at the temple). The onsen was modern and clean, men and women are separated. Thank you very much, would definitely recommend!

Situated in Koyasan in the Wakayama region, 宿坊 光明院 features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a hot tub. We really loved our stay in this Komyo-in Temple. We participated in the evening meditation, the morning prayer and fire ceremony. The dinner and the breakfast was very delicious and we were really pleased that during our dinner our bed was prepared for sleep. The location is very nice, it is very close to Okunoin cemetary. This was the highlight of our Japan tour and we really recommend vist Koyasan.

清浄心院 is situated in Koyasan, 45 km from Matsushita Park, 47 km from Subaru Hall, and 48 km from Kii Fudoki No Oka Museum of Archaeology and Folklore. The temple building was amazing- so old and beautiful. The staff was very friendly, but most of them spoke very little English. There was some confusion with getting dinner for the evening as it was not included in my reservation. So if you want breakfast or dinner, snd it is not included in your reservation, make sure to tell them you want it as soon as you check in. It was a wonderful experience to stay there! Make sure you go to the Fire ceremony, which was at 1 pm daily. It is free.
