With Tsugaike Kogen Ski Area reachable in 9 km, Sakka Sanso features accommodation, a restaurant, a garden, a shared lounge and a bar. Both WiFi and private parking are accessible at the lodge free of charge. We absolutely loved our stay here. The rooms are cute, clean, and surprisingly spacious for Japan. They have two steaming hot onsens that can be booked for private bathing times. Everyone who works here is so sweet and kind. The food is delicious, we ate in the restaurant for breakfast every morning (alternating Japanese and western style meals) and most dinners too! Delicious katsu, teriyaki chicken, beef rice bowls, and veggie tempura! We tried a few other restaurants around Hakuba but we kept coming back to Sakka Sanso! They also picked us up and dropped us off at Hakuba Station, helped us arrange taxi rides, tours and gear rentals, and they got us lift tickets at a discount. Add in the awesome location right next to the 3 Sakka lifts and we can't wait to return to Sakka Sanso!

We were thoroughly impressed by the owner's homemade breakfast. For the price, the attention to detail and quality of ingredients truly stood out. Each morning we had different meals made from local and seasonal ingredients. The small dining room was beautiful.
The owner is very friendly and seems to have much experience traveling around the world.
There are two lovely hot spring baths. Enjoyed the baths so much.

Delightful cosy b&b with the most friendly, helpful and generous owners. Rooms are not huge but ample for a couple with lovely outlook over the garden. Breakfast is home cooked and delicious, served in a nice dining room with open fireplace nearby. The owners generously offered to serve us a home cooked meal for dinner one evening as we were having difficulty finding an open restaurant. It was delicious. Private bathrooms are small but adequate however they have a great large indoor bath/spa for guests which was so relaxing.
Plenty of lovely places to visit, drives, local onsen etc and the owners have lots of local knowledge and information.
Really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it.

JR Hakuba Train Station is a 10-minute drive away. Super comfortable stay with everything we needed to cook after a day on the slopes. The bedding was excellent, showers and toilets worked well. Our host Toshi really made the stay exceptional, he helped us wherever he could, dropped us at the lifts each day and made it really special. Location was excellent, with a shuttle stop for the other mountains 2 minutes walk away. The on-site Onsen was also great and worth booking after a long day. Can’t recommend this stay highly enough, truly 10/10!

Great location right on the slopes near the gondola at Tsaigke Kogen. Very clean, nice staff and everything you need for a basic ski lodge style accommodation. The value for money is excellent and the restaurant within the main building is great and very good food and a great selection of wine and Japanese whisky. Drying room, kitchen, free wifi and shared areas.
Ski in, ski out. One of the closest lodges to the lift. Some of the best food in Madarao. We noticed some groups from other hotels dinning there. Friendly service.
Very homely and warm feeling. Staff (Anis particularly) were very helpful. Bought lift passes cheaper and also got a discount of 20% on ski gear by using this hotel. They drove us to rail station as well. Bus pick up and drop off point for ski lodge out front of hotel. Great pizza across road also
Spacious rooms, between 3 mountains that are drivable distances (Madarao, Myoko and nozawa onsen). Great value for money and staff were super friendly. Great if you like self catering lodges for families. Would recommend sharing a whole block with friends or family.
The lady at reception (who, I think, was the owner) was super friendly - we ended up having long conversations with her! So was the rest of the staff. Nice vibes. We liked the ofuro (bath) as well, especially because you could book it and have it to yourself. Breakfast was great and the coffee was excellent, which is not a given in most ski resort hotels! :) All the staples of a ski lodge were there. Spacious drying room, storage, etc. There a chilling area with loads of manga - in Japanese. Nice touch. :)
Cosy and uniquely decorated ski lodge run by an international staff of young backpackers. It was nice to be able to have conversations with staff and other travellers in a relaxed atmosphere. Good lounge and breakfast bar and loved the funky eclectic interior design of both!
The owner, Jake, couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. Picked up and dropped up several times in our short stay. The lodge is in need of a few jobs done at the time of writing, but this is reflected in the pricing. It was one of the most reasonably priced lodges over the new year 2023, so if you’re looking for a cheap, clean room to sleep, friendly staff, good breakfast and easy access to the shuttle bus, you’ll be fine here! Looking forward to another stay!
