We booked the apartment which is located in the hotel. As others have stated, there is no wifi in the room, you have to go the lobby area. We paid for a mobile wifi router for our stay in Japan so it wasn't an issue. Room is small as stated, however we are three 6ft males and we managed fine. Just meant we needed to be tidy.
Beds were big enough and comfy.
The location is excellent, a short walk to the first lift.
The hotel facilities are great, which you can use as part of the apartment stay.
The lodge owner is friendly and their restaurant is great.
With mountain views, Japan Snowsports is set in Iiyama and has a restaurant, a shared kitchen, bar, garden, sun terrace and barbecue. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge.

Very similar to a European chalet holiday with a Japanese feel. Owners and staff were very friendly and attentive and organised everything from transport to lift passes, dinner bookings to serving a delicious breakfast.
Located just a 5-minute walk from Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort, Marushige provides cosy accommodation with Japanese-style guestrooms, a dining area and shared bath.

Our host Seiko was wonderful and very helpful. The amenities were fantastic, especially the private onsens. The breakfast was delicious but so much for us to eat when we just wanted to hit the snow. And we loved tinkering on the beautiful Yamaha piano, and the drying rooms and place to service our boards were very handy... such a great experience. 👍 🙏
Resembling a cosy European ski hotel, Lodge Hahnenkamm offers direct skiing access to the Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort. The hotel is a 1-minute walk from a ski school, and ski rental shops are also nearby....

Out of town at ski slopes. Would be great in winter. Walk into town helped by long moving walkway, but it stops at 4:30, taxis stop soon after and there are no buses. Owners willing to help out in emergency.
Located only 650 metres from Akakura Kanko Ski Resort and a 5-minute drive from Akakura Onsen Ski Resort, Myoko Mountain Lodge offers cosy rooms with free WiFi and free on-site parking.

Very cool, retro vibe in the lodge. The staff are fantastic, the food was delicious, the room was very comfortable, & the onsen facilities were very nice.
The outdoor bath is on the colder side, but the inside bath is nice & warm, so there is a nice difference between the two to try out.
Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
Perfect ski lodge for our large family. The owners were very hospitable and quick to respond to our questions and needs. We took ski and snowboard lessons with Sam, Taki, and Kotone at Nozawa and Togari, and as it turns out Taki’s wife is a world class baker who cooked up the best breakfast buns this side of the Pacific.
Thank you for making our family trip extra memorable!
Beautiful lodge, friendly staffs
Thank you to the owner, Mr Olivier, Josh (nice guy helping me to bring my luggage) and other staff working at the Shika Lodge. I should've stayed here earlier when visiting Madarao.
Great little lodge with lots of charm. Clean, comfortable, and great location right at the base of the ski hill. If you want a smaller ski hill with the same snow as Nozawa, Togari is a good spot. Little onsen in the basement was nice too. We felt it was really good value here for the price.
Gábor, the guy running it, was very friendly, and went above and beyond to help us find extra ski gear when we showed up lacking. Really saved my day on the hill!
It was like staying with the best of your family who happen to have a great ski lodge. The hosts went above and beyond for us, wonderful place to stay, great food and facilities.
very cosy lodge. good breakfast every day with some variety. no onsen but has a traditional Japanese tub so soak but water isn't onsen hot. very helpful host. yes will visit again.
Ski in, ski out. One of the closest lodges to the lift. Some of the best food in Madarao. We noticed some groups from other hotels dinning there. Friendly service.
The Japanese breakfast is amazing. TOP friendly and helpfulness. The bed is comfortable, bedding is warm. The building is well-insulated. Open fire place in the common area, with leather sofas. A great place to relax. Very close to the ski ticketing and slope. You can ski back to the ski lodge. The ski slope is across the street.
Spacious rooms, between 3 mountains that are drivable distances (Madarao, Myoko and nozawa onsen). Great value for money and staff were super friendly. Great if you like self catering lodges for families. Would recommend sharing a whole block with friends or family.
