Newly renovated in 2016, Uchimaru Hakuba offers simple Western-style non-smoking rooms with mountain views and private bathrooms. Free WiFi is provided throughout the lodge. Great value and location with the shuttle stop right in front of the property. Breakfast is a must to get you ready to hit the slopes. Chan knows the area very well and provides local tips and insights. Highly recommend.

Pension Ringo-no Ki is a completely non-smoking property located in Hakuba. Free WiFi access is available in this lodge. There is a hairdryer, free toiletries and slippers on site. Yoshi and his wife are amazing hosts. Very helpful, genuine, welcoming and always available when needed. The Pension is a beautiful wooden chalet, very clean, with shared bathroom (shower and onsen) but you get to book it for 1 hour every day so it feels very private. The onsen was such a nice surprise after spending the whole day on the slopes. We booked the breakfast (it’s extra) and we did not regret it. Yoshi is in charge of service while his wife cooks: daily homemade bread/brioche, homemade jam, salad, omelette, ham/bacon, yogurt and fresh fruit, juice and tea/coffee for ¥1100pp. Make sure you don’t miss out! The location is pretty good, there is a bus stop opposite the Pension, with different free shuttle buses that takes you straight the slopes.

Located just a 5-minute walk from Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort, Marushige provides cosy accommodation with Japanese-style guestrooms, a dining area and shared bath. We stayed in the twin room with 2 beds, which is very spacious, with a tatami area that can sleep an extra person. It also has 2 desks and chairs for workation purpose, which was perfect as we could do some work when off the slope. The corner windows look out to the mountain view and is quite bright during the day. My wife does not ski; she spent a lot of time working in the room, and she is very happy with the environment. Everything is clean and decorations are nice too. Breakfast was delicious and in generous portions; we stayed 3 days, and all 3 days the menu were different. Owner/manager was very helpful too. We definitely will stay here again if we go to Nozawa next time.

A 5-minute drive from Hakuba Happoone Ski Resort, Pension Belnia offers cosy accommodations and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. We were thoroughly impressed by the owner's homemade breakfast. For the price, the attention to detail and quality of ingredients truly stood out. Each morning we had different meals made from local and seasonal ingredients. The small dining room was beautiful. The owner is very friendly and seems to have much experience traveling around the world. There are two lovely hot spring baths. Enjoyed the baths so much.

A 15-minute drive from Pilatus Ski Resort, chalet-like Nomanomori offers quaint Western rooms. It features a garden with a terrace, free Wi-Fi and a cosy lounge with a fireplace. Delightful cosy b&b with the most friendly, helpful and generous owners. Rooms are not huge but ample for a couple with lovely outlook over the garden. Breakfast is home cooked and delicious, served in a nice dining room with open fireplace nearby. The owners generously offered to serve us a home cooked meal for dinner one evening as we were having difficulty finding an open restaurant. It was delicious. Private bathrooms are small but adequate however they have a great large indoor bath/spa for guests which was so relaxing. Plenty of lovely places to visit, drives, local onsen etc and the owners have lots of local knowledge and information. Really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it.

A 10-minute drive from Hakuba Happo-One Winter Ski Resort, Pension Tomato offers spacious Western-style rooms with a loft area. Love it. Super friendly hosts who helped us a lot, offered to pick us up, take us to hire gear at echoland (with discount at affiliated store), take us to deliver our luggage and send us to the station upon checking out. Booked restaurants for us too since we didn't have a local phone number. Thank you so much! Great accommodation, very cosy and nice atmosphere, vending machine inside, 2 onsen rooms (one of which has an outdoor onsen too, very nice in the snow) which can be used privately by booking each day. Drying room for ski gear is very convenient. Short walking distance (<5 min) to free local bus stop to goryu, happo, iwatake and also to echoland base camp for the hakuba valley shuttle. Buses only run a few each day and finish pretty early, best to not miss the last one as getting a taxi can be a pain! Breakfast needs to be booked by 10am from the previous day, but it's amazing, highly recommended.

A 10-minute walk from Happo One Ski Resort, guests at Log Cottage Epoch can rent out an entire cottage. Each spacious cottage comes with free Wi-Fi and includes a kitchen and a living room. Great central location and access to Happo One gondola. Host Toshi was exceptional and happy to help with transfers from bus depot and to ski base/restaurants

Il Bosco is located 500 metres from Hakuba Goryu Ski Resort where guests can ski back from through a path. It offers white-and-wood rooms with nature views and a flat-screen TV. Everything, the room was perfect and warm, koki and Naomi give us excellent service..koki also cook very good dinner and bake a very niceeee bread.. the most delicious bread I ever had in my life.. his bread is a must!!
