The building was a gorgeous old japanese house with lots of charm and modern amenities. Our host Barbara was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the island. Catch the local airport bus to get here from airport or ferry. Some distance to grocery stores, so be prepared if you do not have your own transport. Friendly and welcoming owners.

Set just 25 km from Yakusugi Land, Tomarigi features accommodation in Yakushima with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as bicycle parking. The host was absolutely lovely! Even though she knew limited English, she tried her best and was extremely charming and welcoming. The facilities are very clean and it was easy to meet and socialise with the other guest. The bathroom is very good too, and you could use the shower if you're not comfortable with the Japanese bath culture of using the same water. Plus, cats are very cute too!

You will be taken and returned to the airport. And believe us this is the only positive point. we don't understand how they have this rating on the website/app.

I enjoyed my stay in Sunrise homestay as the place was clean and comfortable. The host was also very hospitable and generous. There were snacks and shoju on the house! I witnessed the most beautiful sunrise here. We celebrated his birthday with other roommates during my stay. Looking forward to come back here again!
