Onsen Guest House Tsutaya 2 stars

Hakone

Some units in the ryokan have private entrance and are fitted with wardrobe and tatami. Every unit is equipped with a safety deposit box and free WiFi, while certain rooms come with a balcony. At the ryokan, all units have bed linen and towels. Possibly the best hostel I have ever stayed - though that word doesn’t do it justice! Onsen and all common spaces were beautiful, the kitchen was the best appointed I’ve ever seen with everything from cooking sake to coffee beans and grinders, staff were helpful. It’s a bit out of the way of things but that makes for a really peaceful atmosphere.

Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu 3 stars

Taito, Tokyo

Situated in the Asakusa area, Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu has a history of 70 years. The accommodation boasts a view of the Tokyo Skytree from its Hinoki wood bath.

Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu is situated a 5-minute walk from Asakusa Subway Station, near Nakamise-dori Street and Senso-ji Temple. Asakusa Subway Station provides direct access to Ueno, Shibuya and Ginza areas, and also to the Narita and Haneda international airports. This is my second time staying here (First time was in 2019) but the ryokan still provide me a superb omotenashi as usual. -Staff and especially a manager (A man, but I didn't ask his name) was very very helpful in every aspect and can communicate in English -Location is next to Sensoji (AKA Asakusa Temple) and Nakamise-Dori (Shopping street), once you are out from Ryokan it is only a few steps to the mentioned places -Room, although not super big, is very comfortable with Japanese bed (Futon) -Quiet neighborhood compared to Shinjuku or Shibuya All in all, if you seek a small, affordable ryokan with real touch of Japan. THIS IS THE PLACE!!
