We had a beautiful view from our room. Our host spoke excellent English, and we were provided with many amenities. It was so good to have not only a private bathroom in our room, but to be able to privately use the onsen style bath that are available for the whole accommodation. You simply flip a sign to show that bathroom is in use, and nobody else will come in. Perfect for more shy people like myself who don't love the idea of sharing a bath with strangers. The accommodation is only a 10 minute walk from an area with lots of different bars/restaurants.

First of all, the room itself is way larger than you would normally expect in Japan, so plenty of space if you have extra luggage. Plus plenty of amenities, free parking, and helpful (as well as English speaking) staff. The hotel is also located on a large hill overlooking Chichibu, and the view from the room (especially if you can get one on the upper floors) is simply amazing! Better still, you get a very nice traditional Japanese bathroom, that borders on a private onsen, with a large window right next to the bath. I have no complaints about the communal onsen, but if you want a proper onsen experience, there are better places to stay. HOWEVER, wait until nightfall, and prepare a bath in your own room, and then you can relax in the hot water whilst watching all the lights of pretty much the entirety of Chichibu - a view I daresay very few proper onsen hotels can offer, and which is truly spectacular!

I loved the room which was big and comfortable. The room had a newly refurbished toilets and showers which were great. The dinner was also quite nice and so was the onsen with the view. The front desk guy was very welcoming as well.

This is an old, private home style guesthouse and if you set your expectations accordingly you'll have the most wonderful, traditional Japanese experience. The staff is caring but with limited English. Breakfast and dinner were sensational - served traditionally, seated at low tables on the tatami flooring. We wore the yukatas that were provided clean each day. We slept on futons that were rolled out on the floor each night. The pillows are the traditional 'bean filled' lumpy ones. ;-)
There are large, segregated shared bathrooms and other shared toilets.

Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
A wonderful upscale and classic ryokan experience up in the mountains. The Staff were amazing and gracious. The food was over the top too. This was a wonderful break from the classic western hotel experience. Bucket List!
First, I have to admit that it was one of my best experience on Booking. This ryokan was really nice, comfortable and the staff was exceptionally kind. They are really taking care of each details for customers/tourists experience. The building itself is fantastic and we were feeling so good in this place. The location is also good, 5/10mn walk from the station and the main street.
Very comfortable Japanese-style rooms.
Great breakfast made with local ingredients.
The host was very nice and gave good recommendations for dinner places.
Overall, a very satisfying ryokan experience in Chichibu!
I loved the warm welcome from the employees and the traditional breakfast was a dream.
The room was so huge it was bigger than my appartment !
The Bath in wood was beyond everything, I felt like a princess
Location is excellent between the two main Chichibu stations.
It was very cheap @ 5000 yen.
The shared areas were nice, clean, spacious, and I had them to myself when I used them.
A short walk away is the wonderful Chichibu station onsen (bathhouse) which is why I didn't care that the shower is said to take 15 minutes to warm up. A towel was available from the honesty box for 100 yen.
