The next morning we got to our car and had a flat tire - it was a sunday and we were pretty isolated and the host pretty much spent all day helping us getting a towtruck and a new tire. Hospitality like I’ve never seen before. Thank you again so so much! Hope to be back one day.

Better still, you get a very nice traditional Japanese bathroom, that borders on a private onsen, with a large window right next to the bath. I have no complaints about the communal onsen, but if you want a proper onsen experience, there are better places to stay. HOWEVER, wait until nightfall, and prepare a bath in your own room, and then you can relax in the hot water whilst watching all the lights of pretty much the entirety of Chichibu - a view I daresay very few proper onsen hotels can offer, and which is truly spectacular!
