長浜城下 町屋ホテル 和乃リトリートひといき features a sauna and free private parking, and is within 14 km of Hikone Castle and 8.6 km of Maibara Station. Our room was wonderful. The amenities were thoughtful and high quality. The host was extremely friendly and treated us to a tour of beautiful Nagahama.

Located in Hikone, within less than 1 km of Hikone Castle and 7.2 km of Maibara Station, Honmachi Juku provides accommodation with a garden and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who... The homemade Japanese breakfasts were phenomenal and a very good value. Almost unbelievable. Each day was different, with a healthy balance of vegetables, proteins, and carbs (rice). Authentic, and served by a wonderful woman.

Only a 5-minute drive from JR Ogoto Onsen Station with the complimentary shuttle, hotel Yuzanso features Japanese-style rooms with a private open-air hot spring bath and spectacular views of Biwako... Meals were served in the restaurant instead of in the room. The meals were delicious and deceptively filling (as in, you wouldn't think you'd get full but you do!). Our room was amazing with a great view. The in-room onsen worked perfectly.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Dinner was amazing and the staff and service was so attentive. Anzono our waiter for our dinner service went above and beyond. When one of us had to leave dinner before dessert to make their massage appointment, he offered and prepared a plate of the full dessert on a tray to be taken to the room for enjoyment afterwards.

Featuring 1-star accommodation, Tobaya Ryokan is set in Hikone, 1.5 km from Hikone Castle and 7.7 km from Taga-taisha Shrine. This ryokan features a garden. The building looked very authentic and the staff was really helpful. I enjoyed the room and it was quiet. Maybe I should have taken the breakfast option.

16 km from Enryaku-ji Temple, Yumotokan offers a recently renovated 4-star accommodation in the Ogoto Onsen district of Otsu. The staff were super friendly, service minded, and fairly comfortable with English. We had a room with our own outdoor bath which was amazing, and the room as a whole was spacious, clean, and filled with amenities. All the food was great. Overall had an amazing stay and me and me wife really felt like we were taken care of and spoiled.

Ebisusou is located in Takashima, 39 km from Ruriko-in Temple, 41 km from Enryaku-ji Temple, as well as 42 km from Mount Hiei. The place is a little bit odd yes, but it’s a wonderful example of a traditional Japanese hospitality (even if the building doesn’t look traditional… but 70s) the hot bath was one of the best I ever had in Japan and the food was incredible. And I paid only 8250 yen for a half course stay (1 person). And the owner did his best to explain everything (with a digital language translator).
