Great place plenty to do and go see titanic experience was fantastic public transport was great and easy to use little Italian nearby called sporanza served really tasty meals at great prices ulster museum is a must for a visit
Not the most attractive of cities. However the friendly welcome of the people was the most beautiful experience of the entire holiday. I would highly recommend the Ulster Museum and a guided taxi tour of the falls road etc Our guide Nigel was brilliant his knowledge of the Troubles was second to none. Can i also suggest where ever you eat do try the wheaten bread scummy!
So much to see. We took a 2-1/2 hour walking tour and saw more than expected but felt there was still so much more we could've seen (but only had one full day)--always a next time! Would highly recommend Ulster Museum; it's outstanding and we only had about an hour to explore this incredible place.
We only had an afternoon to see and do. We chose the Ulster Museum which is free! Execellent display of the "Troubles" in Ireland. Interesting for those of us who only heard about it on the news across the pond. Ate at a great Fish & Chips place across the street from the Crescent Hotel. Public transportation is easy to navigate and quite convenient. Wish we had more time to explore and experience more of what Belfast has to offer. Need to plan to stay longer next time.
Belfast is my second home. Everytime I visit, I never want to leave. I love Hudson's chicken wings. Goodfella's for pizza, and getting a chippy in the middle of the night. I love three pound movies on tuesdays. I love Lavery's bar and their comedy nights. I love walking around town and just looking at the people. I love Shine nights for nights out or wetherspoons or madison's when you want a chill bar experience. I love just sitting and hanging out at friend's houses. If you are a tourist, visit the dome in Victoria square, go to the Ulster museum, visit where the titanic was built, take the bus or cab tour so you can see the wall of murals and go out at night.
It can be a little dingy in places, but there are a lot of interesting things to see and do. Transport is pretty good between buses and suburban rail. Between late opening shops and restaurants, it's not hard to find somewhere to eat. My favourite places to visit were Queen's University, the Botanic Gardens, Ulster Museum and the Linen Hall Library.
We enjoyed exploring the Ulster American Folk Park. It is an easy drive for a day trip to Belfast.
Clean, friendly felt comfortable in the city Titanic, ulster museum On & off bus great way to see city and for further destinations Enjoyed having breakfast at the hotel
Belfast and the surrounding area was fantastic even in the wet winter weather. Small enough to walk with many places to visit including the Ulster museum, Titanic Quarter and HMS Caroline. Coast was stunning.
Bushmills
Hotel is beautifully decorated, modern and spotlessly clean. Staff are very welcoming, helpful, friendly. Very comfortable rooms/beds...well equipped with kettle, hairdryer, tv etc. Food was excellent with a great selection. Full cooked ulster breakfast was delicious, as was the evening meal in the restaurant. Handy location to Giant's Causeway, Bushmills, Portrush etc We had a lovely relaxing stay and would certainly recommend! Special thanks to Louise and Eileen...was lovely to meet you both
Central location for our trip Edel was very responsive to any question or requests The apartment is in St. Anne’s Square, which has its own parking garage (free parking) and wonderful restaurants. You must try Madame Pho’s Vietnamese street food. It is fantastic. A Centra is a block away, as is Ulster University. A Super Tesco and a shopping mall are a 10-minute walk down York Avenue. I look forward to staying there again!
Beautiful area lovely hosts, very family run, Bill and Joyce were lovely. It was very quiet and peaceful location. We thought it was excellent value, the day after we had a hotel that was twice the price which, which was very disappointing in comparison. Bill and Joyce’s was A short few minutes drive to Omagh and a lovely drive up to the Ulster museum and Gortin Glen park. We would go again and recommend it to anyone.
Belcoo
For a reasonable price I had a whole apartment with a good amount of space, cooking facilities, fridge, easy chairs etc.. Good location near food shop (has coffee machine) and bar (Maguires which served me a good evening meal). On the Ulster Way long distance walk. As the key was obtained with a code, I did not have to worry about arriving at a specific time, although the owner happened to drive by when I arrived.
Derry Londonderry
I truly enjoyed staying in a genuine Irish neighborhood rather then a touristic hotel. I also really appreciated the lovely terrace in back with a stunning view over the center of Derry. There’s a restaurant and bar on site, and we enjoyed a wonderful meal there the second night. The breakfast options were also excellent, including a traditional Ulster fry for only an additional £4.
Clean, pleasant, efficient hotel in a very convenient location, half way between Donegall Square and Queen's University. The staff were friendly and helpful about restaurant recommendations. Nice bedroom and a very peaceful night's sleep. Buffet breakfast: tasty, with a wide range of options as well as the traditional Ulster Fry.
The apartment was clean, had comfortable beds, a washing machine, a decent kitchen, good seating area. Free street parking that felt safe. The location was a short bus ride from the downtown core. Communication was quick, easy and helpful. Go to the Ulster museum around the corner. It’s free and wonderful.
The staff was very helpful to inquiries and luggage storage while exploring the city. The location was close to the botanical gardens and university with many choices for dining nearby. Walking distance to the university, botanical gardens and Ulster Museum. Breakfast was good (included).
Portadown
Room was clean and comfortable, lots of choice for breakfast, including an Ulster fry which was delicious. Gillian and other staff were pleasant and friendly. Location was good, hotel was within walking distance of shops, restaurants and bars.
The staff is incredible. They are always willing to help with anything. The staff far exceeded our expectations. The breakfast is underrated.. We were delighted to find out they offered a buffet style full ulster fry every morning!
With a short footpath between the Ulster Way and this hotel (avoiding a walk on a busy road) it made an ideal overnight stop. I am glad I did as the rooms were of a good size and the food was more adventurous than the usual fare.
Great room at this centrally located hotel. Staff were very helpful and attentive (typical Northern Irish hospitality). Food / breakfast was plentiful and excellent choices including the local Ulster fry if you are up for it!
Belfast
Lots of space and well set up. The location was excellent and car parking was free in the street outside the building. The Botanic Gardens and Ulster Museum are just a few minutes walk. Easy bus access to the city centre too.
Great location, close to Lisburn Road! Very quiet estate! Apartment was very spacious and very nicely presented! Staff were lovely to deal with. It’s within walking distance of Ulster Museum and a host of great restaurants!
A very cosy boutique hotel in a magnificent setting on shores of Strangford Lough. Woke to a fabulous crisp clear sunny morning. Staff were very welcoming & helpful. Breakfast was a big plate of Ulsters best.
Bright, modern hotel set in really pleasant countryside. Accessible to Belfast and Ards Peninsula. Great location for touring the countryside or visiting Belfast. Close to Ulster Folk Park and Mount Stewart.
Belfast
The positive side of the hostel is the position: it is located near the botanical gardens and the Ulster Museum, and at a 15 min walking distance to the City Hall. The room was pretty and the bed was cozy.
Hotel complied with our pre-stay request. Pleasant staff. Bonus of free light breakfast. Walkable to city centre. Nice area ,and close to Queens University, Botanic Gardens and Ulster Museum.
It was indifferent: I expected an Ulster Fry cooked to order with puddings etc. and was served some food that had quite obviously been kept warm and was dried out. No wheaten bread on offer.
Very reasonable price, exceptionally good value. Very high standards, cleanliness is a priority and a super breakfast combination of buffet and Ulster fry, what more could anyone desire.
