Great little town. Good restaurants and plenty of little bars. Of course the golf is excellent and Slieve Donard and the mountains of Mourne are the main attractions. When you are there, go to SOAK Seaweed baths and ask for Dermot.

Newcastle is a very safe, friendly and clean town.
Newcastle is a very safe, friendly and clean town. I never saw a policeman, or the need for one during my whole stay. The locals were very polite and friendly. One thing that will be appreciated by English is the lack of potholes! There are plenty of coffee shops, cafes and places to eat. There is a total absence of litter, it must be a local pride thing, I even saw a street cleaner on Sunday. The only downside to me was the lack of Bitter in the pubs! I'm 68 and love my bitter, I'm spoiled by having two award winning local breweries, that both do excellent award winning bitter and mild!

Great little town at the foot of the Mourne mountains.
Great little town at the foot of the Mourne mountains. Lots of places to eat, plenty of places to keep kids entertained, and lots of hiking. Also a good base for exploring Co Down. Not that much of a drive up to Belfast either if you wanted to spend a day up there.

Newcastle town is about a mile away from Cherryhill Lodge.
Newcastle town is about a mile away from Cherryhill Lodge. Maybe need to take this into consideration if you haven't got your own transport. Saying this, Patricia kindly offered us a lift into town if she was around, though we didn't take her up on her offer as we preferred walking.

The Hotel location was excellent and Newcastle is good for a base to visit other places. There are a few decent Restaurants around and plenty of bars. There are a wide variety of shops including an old fashioned department store, of the type which seems to have disappeared from most High Streets.

We loved the location- uniquely placed to enjoy the beauty of the mountains but handy to supermarket, bus stop and a short dander into the gorgeous town of Newcastle. We honestly have never met friendlier people than those we encountered here and in County Down in general. We loved ending the day with the hot tub then getting cosy in the Pjs in our beautiful cabin. Super friendly and super organised hosts . Thank you Catherine. We would love to return soon
The Apartments where in a perfect location. The apartments are spacious, very clean. They facilities are modern & well maintained. The individual bathrooms are perfect so you have that all important privacy while being away from home.
You are right in the heart of everything & you will definitely fall in love with Newcastle Co Down
The central location of this hotel was perfect for our one night stay. My parents had a caravan in Newcastle when I was a child and this was a trip down memory lane. I left my phone in a near by bar and the staff could not have been any more helpful and I thankfully got my phone back. Some great pictures on there
Having not been to Newcastle before, the hotel staff were brilliant. They helped us with a late check out, and couldn't do enough whilst we were there :)
Excellent room,
thanks again
