Located in Lewes, 8.9 miles from Glyndebourne Opera House, The Jolly Sportsman has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. This is an absolutely charming pub/restaurant in the middle of the Sussex countryside with a few rooms. All around are lovely walks and views, and it is only a shortish drive (albeit down very narrow country lanes) from Lewes, Hove, and Brighton. Our room was very comfortable with a splendid bathroom, and lovely view. We ate dinner on Saturday night and it was inventive and delicious cuisine using a lot of local ingredients. Highly recommended, not least because the owners and staff are particularly friendly.

The Chatsworth Hotel is an exquisitely restored Victorian seafront retreat, overlooking the historic pier and bandstand. Historic property (the elevator is quite old, really cool to ride it) and big rooms with high ceilings. The bathroom is quite large as well. Everything was clean, there's also a fridge in the room if you need it (but it was quiet). Very friendly staff, always up for a chat or recommendations what to do or where to go. There's a breakfast option available, which we didn't use. We however used the small icecream cart at the entrance. The hotel is directly at the promenade. It doesn't have it's own parking, however you can park for 2 £/day on the street with an H-card and you only need it Mo-Sat from 8-18. We never had any issue finding a parking spot.

The room was much larger than expected and the Sea View was amazing given it was described as a side view. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. For the money I thought is was great value

Ticehurst
This is a unique location, on the edge of a 46-acre patch of ancient woodland. When we stayed the bluebells were out and it was beautiful. To be clear, though, the site that the lodges look out onto isn't the woodland but a giant carpark. The nearby restaurant, the Birchwood, is a lovely location for breakfast (if a little pricey). The lodges are also near to some wonderful locations in this part of East Sussex/Kent (Sissinghurst, Cranbrook, Bedgbury Forest etc.) The greeting when we arrived was friendly.
Ticehurst
We loved the spacious accommodation, and wonderful hospitality from Ann & Ian. Especially welcome, was the pack of basics like a freshly baked loaf/cupcakes, bacon, eggs, little jug of milk & butter, all just enough to get us through the first night/breakfast. Special thanks to Ian for driving my husband's car to a petrol station to get a top up during the 2021 fuel crisis, which meant we could relax. Can really recommend the apartment for anyone touring the East Sussex/Kent area.
A delightful small hotel, in a quiet location, run by a lovely couple. The room was superb and so were the individually cooked breakfasts. The hotel is a converted from a large old house, full of features and each room is different. Nothing like an identikit chain hotel, it reminded me of an historic American Guest House. A great location for accessing the beautiful and varied scenery of East Sussex.

East Sussex National Hotel was very nice. The room was big, the breakfast was good and there was a good spa and gym. The staff were very nice.

Every thing. The staff was great. The breakfast was very tasty, the view from our room was to the lake and the forest. There is no better way to get up in the morning and to see this view. Would come back for sure
