The best stay I’ve had in years! 🏝️This is truly a relaxing Island experience and an opportunity for you to unwind in a secluded location. Thank you Sook Peng and Fred for helping my stay feels like home! They have arranged the transfer quite seamlessly, I got picked up from the hotel early morning to the pier and then to the island. The view is truly amazing as the lodge is right in front of the sea. They have everything you need for this Island: kayaks, snorkel masks, beach mats and coconuts (and beer which is a rare commodity in the island)! Thank you Sook Peng for the wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s wonderful to enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal by the sea. I also get to taste some delicious farm-to-table vegetables they’ve grown from their aquaponics farm ♥️ I’ve enjoyed my time on the island, there’s a dive centre 5-min walk from the lodge and it’s convenient if you’d like to join a dive or two. My room is right in front of the sea with a little garden, sun lounge area and a private entrance to the beach. You’re surrounded by nature and animals, I’ve seen cats, cows, tree frogs, big green turtles and more. Just be prepared for mosquitos at night, you can spray the room before you leave for dinner, I’ve also bought a “Deep Woods” repellent and some repellent wristbands which comes in quite handy. There’s no aircon in the room but the island breeze does help, the room is well-ventilated and there’s a fan and cooling machine in the room. Truly an amazing getaway, I must come back again!

Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan. Everything about our stay at the Last Frontier was absolutely unforgettable. Gert and Jason, what perfect hosting! I have travelled a fair amount in my life yet cannot recall better. Communication was always clear and concise regarding requirements etc.and the information extremely helpful. Jason, the knowledge and advice you imparted during pick up and drop off was excellent. Thank you, and thank you all of the team for all of the delicious food and especially for Baljit's birthday surprise and cake. Of course, she had the added surprise of seeing a herd of pygmy elephants swim across the Kinabatangan river on our early morning river cruise that day - fabulous! Thanks for organising that as well - ha! We so enjoyed the river cruises and wildlife spotting. We saw more than we could have expected - Ryan has developed an incredible eye for spotting things that we could not have spotted ourselves. Aside from the magnificent spectacle of the pygmy elephants we also saw Proboscis monkeys, Crested Serpent Eagles, Rhinoceros Hornbills, Oriental Pied Hornbill, various Kingfishers and other birds, Long and Pig Tailed Macaques, Crocodiles, butterflies and moths of such colouring. It really is a jungle experience at the Last Frontier. All in all, a truly amazing time. We didn't want to leave.

Bayu Senja Lodge features garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Kundasang. The lodge offers a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries, a hairdryer and bidet. Extremely helpful staff members - did our washing for us with a rapid turn around, moved our suitcases to our new room on the second night, helped us with transport to the national park etc. Clean rooms with efficient fan and comfortable beds. Free bottled water provided, with beautiful views of sunset from kitchen and terrace. Would absolutely recommend to anyone!

Situated in Kinabatangan, Borneo Jungle Adventure features free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a terrace and barbecue facilities. There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free... We had an amazing stay with Linda and the team. Eco run lodge is alongside the river (not reachable by car - they will pick you up with a boat), rooms were refurbished, big and clean. As they say: there is no jacuzzi but you will get all the comfort needed. Providing 3 meals a day, Malaysian food one of the best we have had during all our trip in Borneo, plenty to eat, water, coffee and tea available at all times, also things from the bar (soft drinks, beer - extra charge, normal prices). All activities on the river were done on the highest level, team is very knowledgeable about the nature and the animals in the area - we have spotted many of them and also got some insightful information from the team.

Set in Sepilok, Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort offers accommodation with a year-round outdoor pool and a bar. A buffet, à la carte or American breakfast can be enjoyed at the property. The staff was very friendly and helpful!

Situated in Ranau in the Sabah region, D' Limbai Cottage features accommodation with free private parking. A terrace is available for guests to use at the lodge. A view like none other. Just sitting on the balcony and watching the clouds move past Mount Kinabalu was such an amazing sight. It’s a beautiful place at a great price. The host was friendly and accommodating. Room was comfortable.

Located in Kundasang in the Sabah region, Nulu View Cabin provides accommodation with free private parking. This place had a beautiful view of Mt. Kinabatangan and the owners were really nice.

Situated in Sandakan in the Sabah region, Kinabatangan Wildlife Lodge features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. Irphan was an excellent river and hike guide. Siti was a great host.i

Featuring sea views, Maglami-lami Water House in Semporna features accommodation and a restaurant. There is a fully equipped private bathroom with bidet and slippers. The lodge offers a sun terrace. Food was better than expected, everything was perfect and you can snorkel around the boundaries. Was lucky enough to spot turtles during our stay. Staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Located in Kudat, Tampat do Aman provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a terrace and a restaurant. Had a great two nights stay in this nature paradise. Howard, the owner, has a deep knowledge of the region and its culture. He will make your stay super easy going and can drop you around if you have no vehicle. Accommodation is very basic and that's exactly why you're going there! If you are scared of little insects, you shouldn't be in Borneo at the first place so move on!
