The house was spacious and comfortably furnished. The beds were very comfortable with high quality linen. The villa is close to Lotte Arai resort (about 5 minute drive) and the managers of the villa were extremely helpful in arranging transport for our group with a neighbour, who was charming and helpful. The manager also arranged dinner for us at a local restaurant which usually only offers lunch and this was a very special experience for us. The drying room was excellent for our ski gear. From the house are views of the surrounding rice fields and up to the mountains.

Amazing vibe and fantastic people. Great food and social atmosphere for guests. Very quiet and laid back, perfect spot if you're looking to hit the slopes all day and get a good night's rest. Transfers to and from the hills are absolutely mint. Thanks Myoko team, I'll be back next year!
Myoko
Located 32 km from Zenkoji Temple, Myoko House provides accommodation with a restaurant, a bar and a shared kitchen for your convenience. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge. We arrived not knowing what to expect really, but Nathan and Akiko were so welcoming and really good fun. As was Nick, their handyman. The dining room / living area was a place you wanted to be in, so we ended up spending more time there chatting with Nathan, Akiko and Nick (as well as the other guests) rather than heading out into the town. Akikos food was amazing and good value too, so there was no need to go anywhere else either. Nathan made extra effort to take us to the resorts, and also picking us up if he was able to. Nick and Akiko joined us on the slopes too on occasion. Also, being someone a little over 6ft, the beds were plenty bong enough and were really comfy. After travelling for 4 months, this was comfortably our favourite stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

It’s a happy place! Geoff and Tania ensured that we were well taken care of throughout the stay! They tried their best to pick us up from the train station even though there was a heavy snowfall on the night we arrived. All staffs were kind and friendly. Others who lived at the lodge were also very nice and sociable. I’m really glad to meet new friends from different parts of the world.
Started the day with breakfast prepared by the team, then went snowboarding — ask Geoff to recommend ski areas if you’re unsure! Get into the onsen after a whole day of snow then head out to the village (about 7min walk) for dinner after — similarly, if you’re unsure where to eat, ask! Hang out at the common area to chill, chat, watch a movie, play games with affordable beers etc!
Maximise your time here if you can! We were really sad to leave and wanted to stay an extra day.. ): till next time! Thank you Geoff and Tania for taking care of us! ❤️❤️❤️

Very attentive staff who gladly helped us arrange activities that would otherwise require fluent Japanese skills (e.g. make reservations, search for bus connections to remote areas). The bathing facilities are clean and comfy. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet as well as the small dinner and after-bathing snacks.
What an amazing experience staying at Tsubame Highland Lodge. The owner of the lodge might be the best Japanese person I’ve ever met - so lovely and helpful and friendly. The Onsen - a mix of cold and hot has also been my favourite of the trip. And the view of the trees and the snow from our room and lodge made it the most perfect cosy stay.
Close proximity to town and lifts, great lodge feel, friendly staff, lovely rooms. I would definitely stay again. I loved the family bedroom great mountain view. Thanks all for making our stay lovely. Best espresso martini’s in Myoko.
In my 36 years of life I’ve never experienced such awe and inspiration in the form of accomodation. Staying at Morino Lodge was like being hugged by a large giant cat whispering fairy tales in my ear. I endeavour with all my might every day to return.
The staff at Myoko Forest Lodge were exceptional. They cooked great food, had excellent tips and advice about the area including good info on where the best snow might be found. We were treated like VIPs by everyone. The beds were super warm and cozy and the inhouse bath was divine.
This is an amazing guesthouse, I highly recommend you to have your breakfast and dinner booked at the lodge, it's delicious and made with love (with good quantity!). You really feel like home and the hosts/owners are helpful, kind and lovely with everyone. I had the best sleep in months there ! Also, they always worries about our comfort and well being, really want to visit them every time I come back to Japan now. Extra : I love pets and there's a young cat at the house, as 2 cute dogs, so that was a perfect place for me !
Never had such a great experience with the staff! They helped us with everything we needed and they were so kind and thoughtful. The lodge was beautiful, nice views and they even provided board games!
We couldn’t have wished for better hosts. With an easy going attitude they have made this an unforgettable stay! Lisa knows all the good restaurants in town and organizes some really cool day trips! Dave showed us very cool off-piste runs in all of the nearby resorts 👍🏽 There is a courtesy bus for pick-ups at the resorts and restaurants. The lodge is really cozy and our beds where very comfortable. See you soon!
At least our room was clean. Bedding was clean and mattresses comfortable. The snow equipment dry room is decently sized and the lodge is a short 10 minute walk to Akakura Kanko gondola. They have pickup and dropoff at Myoko Station free of charge if you request in advance.
Fantastic ski lodge in a small ski town. Very friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast with many options (hot & cold) and they do a group dinner every 2-3 days. The onsen are nice, especially the outdoor ones. The rooms are simple but very comfortable and well cleaned. There is a bar and if you ask nicely they will bring out a ping pong table and/or guitar.
