Belle Vue Nishiura ligt in Minami Uonuma in de regio Niigata, op 3 minuten lopen van het skigebied Ishiuchi-Maruyama. Het biedt directe toegang tot de skipistes en een skiopslag. The hotel is really cosy and we love the warmth and hospitality of Satoshi-san and his family. We opted for breakfast and it was delicious everyday - sitting in the dining room, watching the snow fall and having breakfast. Satoshi-san was very kind to fetch us to and from the train station and also to and from Gala Yuzawa for skiing because the ski resort just behind the hotel didn't have enough snow to open. We do not drive so it is a walk out to get dinner but we absolutely love the food from this restaurant called 'Sekiyama' which is just opposite 7-11. The ski rental at the hotel is also half the price of that at the ski resort - so it's extremely convenient and value-for-money. Communication before the stay was via Whatsapp and it was prompt and easy. Satoshi-san even told us that the ski resort has a fireworks performance in the evening, which we definitely would have missed if he did not tell us :) We Thank you Satoshi-san for your kindness and hospitality!

Arai Villa Myoko ligt in Myoko, op 47 km van Zenkō-ji Tempel, 49 km van station Nagano, en 23 km van Nojiri-meer. The house was spacious and comfortably furnished. The beds were very comfortable with high quality linen. The villa is close to Lotte Arai resort (about 5 minute drive) and the managers of the villa were extremely helpful in arranging transport for our group with a neighbour, who was charming and helpful. The manager also arranged dinner for us at a local restaurant which usually only offers lunch and this was a very special experience for us. The drying room was excellent for our ski gear. From the house are views of the surrounding rice fields and up to the mountains.

The room was super clean, warm, and the bed was really comfortable. Good reliable WiFi throughout the lodge, and if you're a skier or snowboarder the drying room downstairs is perfect for storing your gear. The location is lovely and scenic but only a short drive to plenty of places to eat, the train station, and the various snow resorts; transfers to the resorts were easy to organise, and a few of the closer ones are offered free of charge (the further ones cost but are very reasonable). The traditional bath they have available is also incredible for a soak after a big day on the mountain! Chereyne and Brett are fantastic hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the area, very welcoming and happy to help with things like train station pickups, making local dinner reservations, making resort recommendations etc. They were also super accommodating of my dietary requirements (vegan) for all meals we ate at the lodge - amazing cooked breakfasts with continental options available too, and beautiful traditional barbeque dinners (they alternate with more western style meals and it's up to you which you want to eat in/out for). Myoko is a beautiful spot with some amazing snow to be enjoyed and it's super accessible from Tokyo, would absolutely recommend this place and hope we get the opportunity to come back!

They made sure we had everything we needed, gave us good recommendations of where to go while in Myoko-Kogen and overall we’re very helpful to us!

Hunter Lodge is gunstig gelegen op 4 minuten lopen van het skigebied Akakura Onsen en op 4 minuten lopen van het busstation. Het biedt gratis WiFi in alle ruimtes en gratis bagageopslag. The staff was very kind. Breakfast was delicious every morning. Room was clean and well appointed.

Myoko Ski Lodge Akakura Village ligt in het dorp Akakura Onsen, in het centrum van de skigebieden van Myoko. Het biedt een prachtig uitzicht over de vallei en gratis WiFi. I’d offer an 11th star if Booking.com would let me. The Myoko Ski Lodge is perfectly located and a lovely residence, but the hosts – Geoff and Tania – are what made this a truly amazing trip for us. This was our first time skiing in Japan, and we could not have picked a better spot to stay. It’s walkable to an Akakura Onsen chairlift as well as the free shuttle stop that can take you to Akakura Kanko. The hosts helped us with transport and gear rental on our first day, allowing us to hit the slopes quickly and easily. They also helped the two non-skiers in our group set up interesting activities for the week. Our rooms were very comfortable for our family of five, breakfast was plentiful, and the onsen (natural hot springs) on the first floor were the perfect way to end a day of skiing. The town is lovely, not too big, not too small, and plenty of easy dining options. We were a tiny bit leery of the shared spaces when we booked (as we treasure our privacy), but I’m convinced this is THE way to go for a ski vacation. We made some great friends on the trip and it was so nice to hang out around the fire and share stories over a drink or two with other guests. The kids had a blast and we all enjoyed playing games in the play area/den. It truly felt like a home away from home. I thought a Japan ski trip might be a one-time experience, but I’m convinced that THIS is the way to ski – zero lines, great snow, good food, small town (non-commercialized) feel, onsens, and hosts who seemingly live to share this great experience with their guests. We will be back for sure!

Super clean - room / shared areas / toilet / washing facilities Spacious and comfortable room Fast and reliable WiFi Wonderful food Amazing owners! I was at a cycle event and breakfast was prepared for me at 5am to accommodate an early start. Then a lovely hot dinner in the evening.

Kagura White Horse Inn ligt in Yuzawa, op 100 m van het Kagura Ski Resort Mitsumata Station. Het biedt een gedeelde keuken en lounge. Deze lodge biedt gratis WiFi en gratis privéparkeergelegenheid. The service and breakfast were really good!! Vegetarian curry in the vending machine. Ski rental was decent.
