Visited Akita for the Kanto Festival in Akita city. It is about 1 hour drive but was no stress. The town of Misato is famous for spring water and amazing sake.

Just one train stop from Akita Station, so quite convenient as a location.

We got a warm welcome and enjoyed the stay very much. The view into the garden was like in the picture - lovely. The tatami-room was elegant and cozy. We were happy to enjoy the hospitality of the host family. Arigatou gouzaimasu!

The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, making me feel right at home. One of the highlights was the breakfast, which was available at a very reasonable price and tasted great! The room was cozy and comfortable, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. I also loved the convenience of the mini-store inside the guesthouse, where I could grab snacks like ramen and beer. Another bonus was having access to a laundry machine, which made my stay even more comfortable and convenient.

It’s a beautiful old house of the Showa era, and it gives a real feeling for the culture of that time. It also has a few entirely modern conveniences which we were less interested in :-) but for people like us who really are interested in the Japan of the mid 20th century, it’s an absolutely delightful stay
