Visited Akita for the Kanto Festival in Akita city. It is about 1 hour drive but was no stress. The town of Misato is famous for spring water and amazing sake.

It's a very big place, with all the ground floor available for us, with a completely equipped kitchen, washing machine, and everything we need. There is a small shopping center in a walking distance from the house, and a few restaurants too. Koh's house is in a calm a residential neighborhood which is nice to get closer to the japanese lifestyle in a small village, but there is a train station in a walking distance from there and it's just one station distant from Akita's main station. Finally, our host Koh is a very nice person, insisting in picking us up at Akita main station upon our arrival, and leaved us back there when we left, and very helpful all the time.

みんなの実家門脇家 provides a hot tub and free private parking, and is within 10 km of Akita Station and 14 km of Omoriyama Zoo. Its a nice, calm corner in the outskirts of town. perfect for getting away from the big city. The owner and his family are more than friendly and accomodating, would recommend.

Set 8.4 km from Nyuto Hot Spring, Hotel Radish House offers 1-star accommodation in Senboku and features a garden. A hot tub is available for guests. Location, beautiful scenery of the mountains and the lake. Food was excellent and prepared with great care and love, maybe a bit too much food. Love the dog, the owner doesn’t speak English but is very kind.

Situated in Senboku, 38 km from Nyuto Hot Spring, Kakunodate Guest House Choux features accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a shared lounge. The guesthouse is a great place to stay in Kakunodate. The owner is very friendly, the dorm is spatious and clean. The location is in walking distance from the JR Kakunodate station. I would definitely stay again.

Minpaku AMBO - Friendly share house - has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, situated in Kazuno, 40 km from Lake Towada. Lots of room, a whole different vibe than a hotel. Host was very accommodating when it came to checking in a little early. much appreciated.
