Breakfast was simple but absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and even offered us snow shoes and kids toys to play in the snow The onsen experience was unique, bare in mind the onsen between male and female switches daily Staff also made the effort to cater our dinner last minute as it was snowing heavily outside

It features indoor and outdoor hot springs, a library and a cosy lounge with a fireplace. the owners and staff were so friendly and accomodating- they were amazing. Mieko was great - so easy to ask information from and she then made multiple bookings for us. location was perfect, facilities including Onsen, guest lounge and breakfast were great.

Set in Myoko, within 37 km of Zenkoji Temple and 39 km of Nagano Station, Tomiya Ryokan offers accommodation with ski-to-door access and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who drive.... amazing onsen. me and my partner came in the off season (may) and we had a wonderful experience, however it is more of a place for a day trip in the off season. we dont have a car and so we booked 2 nights. you can take the sekiyama bus it runs till 6pm. great place that i wish we came to in the winter! however it was nice because it was very private, only myself and my partner were staying. the english of the innmaster is pretty good but needed to use my japanese and some translating to aid! the onsen was beautifully iron rich. with a view of the mountains!

Ryounkaku Matsunoyama onsen, a property with a shared lounge, is set in Tokamachi, 38 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort, 36 km from Maiko Snow Resort, as well as 47 km from Lake Hokuryuko. The staff were fabulous. Couldn’t do enough to make your stay wonderful and comfortable.

Tamakiya Ryokan is located in Tokamachi, 24 km from Yuzawa and 20 km from Nozawa Onsen. Each room at this ryokan is air conditioned and is equipped with a flat-screen TV. Loved the customer service and overall hospitality. Loved the facilities and they were very clean. We also really enjoyed the tea, sake, and snack bar. The hotel felt very luxurious and was most comfortable.

Set in Minami Uonuma in the Niigata Region, 10 km from Maiko Snow Resort, Kutsurogian boasts a hot spring bath and ski-to-door access. Amazing stay, so peaceful and clean. Staff were wonderful and gave us lots of unique experiences (like the sparklers!). They went above and beyond to accommodate us, which we really appreciated. Food was delicious and the onsens were gorgeous.

Surrounded by untouched nature, Satoyama Jujo offers eco-friendly designer accommodation boasting natural hot spring baths. Everything was so serene and pretty. The staff were Very kind and welcoming. They found out it was our anniversary and made us a special dessert! We have all kinds of food restrictions and they took them all into consideration. The room was amazing and had a beautiful veiw. The food was very good and all locally sourced. 100 percent would recommend this ryokan! The onsen in the room was so peaceful and the common one had a view to the mountains
