Offering a garden and garden view, Nagataki is located in Nakatsugawa, 10 km from Toson Memorial Museum and 10 km from Magome Wakihonjin Museum. Well beyond expectations on almost every level: kindness, hospitality, food... First of all, the host is really responsive both via the Booking message system and Whatsapp, which is a plus: even before getting to Japan we already chatted to arrange a pick up from the station to the hotel. So, if you are worried about the distance from the city center, forget your worries. Second: the host's kindness and hospitality were even beyond the (already high) japanese standards and he also spent some time with us suggesting things to do and places to visit. Also, every other person working there was super-kind and sweet, we really felt welcomed. Third: the food. The owner is a really skilled cook, offering an outstanding kaiseki-style dinner and breakfast, with both regional and national delicious dishes. One of the things that drove our choice to Nagataki were some previous reviews about the food, and we can confirm it was even beyond our expectations, with special attention to both the taste and the composition. Last, the Nagataki charm. Here each host has its own traditional Japanese house, which is just an amazing way to experience a slice of traditional Japanese life. Also, the hotel has got a small onsen that - being few people in the structure for the night we spent there - was split in two private onsen. So, to sum up, we cannot recommend Nagataki enough: if you are undecided, give it a try and you won't regret it.

47 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, Shiroyamakan is a recently renovated property set in Shirakawa and offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Everything. It was an amazing experience and everyone working there was just incredible. We would recommend everyone passing through Shirakawago to stay here. It was simply unforgettable.

Located within 35 km of Takayama Station and 38 km of Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village in Takayama, Yunohirakan features accommodation with seating area. The Ryokan was superb. The hot springs were great, the food was excellent and the portions were enormous. The service was wonderful and friendly.

Situated in a tranquil area in Gifu Region, a 52-minute drive away from JR Takayama Station, Mozumo boasts a hot-spring bath and rooms decorated with modern Japanese interior. The dinner was excellent, as was the private onsen in the room. The staff were wonderful.

Great traditional-style Ryokan. Walking distance from the town and there is on site parking. Large, clean rooms. Ample meals. Both an indoor and outdoor public bath. Right next to a flowing river. Very pleasant staff.

Founded in 1860, Juhachiro is located along Nagara River and boasts indoor and outdoor natural hot spring baths. The property is a 15-minute bus ride from Gifu Train Station. I mean... five stars !? 😂😂😂😊😊😊
