The owners are very kind and helpful, the area and the huts are amazing. Due to the nature of the place (pun intended) it comes with some challenges (remote place, bugs, geckos entering your room, taking a short hike to get to the dining area, jungle noises at night...) but I couldn't list them as negative things since it's a part of the experience. Make sure you read the description carefully and especially the message sent by the place after booking to avoid surprises!

We had a room in a house on a hill in the forest overlooking the sea. Lying in the hammock was really relaxing. Birds singing and the murmur of the sea. The owners from Holland are very friendly. Carmen is an excellent cook, at the same time a very nice and helpful hostess. She will be happy to advise you and help organize trips and transfers by water taxi. The joint dinners were a great experience both gastronomic and social.

You are in the jungle and see all kinds of birds and wildlife, but you still have all of your comforts, like a nice bed, a beautiful relaxing space with a deck and hammock, a clean bathroom and hot shower. Jen cooks amazing dishes and always has the coffee on when you arrive for breakfast. She accommodates your dietary needs and the food includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. You can even watch her machete a fresh coconut for you to drink from, to get an electrolyte boost! I stayed for 5 nights.

The food was fantastic. We have food allergies and the staff was excellent in helping us. We were able to enjoy everything. The location and resort were wonderful and we had the opportunity to see many animals and beautiful plants, trees and flowers. We even spotted 3 red frogs :)

Really nice locally owned hostel right by the water :) great chill out area and my stay was made even better by the amazing volunteers who were so amazing and nice!! The hostel is clean and tidy, shared dorm has big lockers and private rooms were very spacious. The Zapatilla tour I booked through the hostel was super fun, we even got to go fishing and caught barracudas. I had a very memorable time in Bastimentos because of this hostel and would highly recommend it to everyone :)
