Our favourite stay in Scotland! The rooms were not just beautifully appointed but also very thoughtfully. Service was attentive and warm but discreet. Great location to explore the area including a short drive to St. Andrews. From welcome drinks & treats in the stunning room with lovely views plus excellent lighting (a rarity in any hotel) to the extravagant breakfasts; a lot of effort had gone into making this an exceptional stay for their guests. The breakfasts were an absolute treat, all perfectly cooked by their Chef with 5 star service by amazing Alex. Both managers David & Dave were lovely; nothing was too much trouble - including bringing ice up 3 flights of stairs for our drinks. We enjoyed a lively & entertaining village jam session in the back bar on our first night; and it was still quiet in the bedroom during the session - great soundproofing! Top marks for The Shoregate. Highly recommend.

St. Andrews
A beautiful room, almost little apartment, equipped with attention to detail and anything that may be needed for convenience. John is a most friendly and helpful host and made us feel comfortable. Large and comfortable guest lounge with guest fridge and complimentary snacks. The house is beautifully located, in a row of sandstone terraced houses with front gardens, 5-10 minutes walk to main streets. We had 5 days in St. Andrews and enjoyed every minute. Picturesque places along Fife coast easy to reach.
The Earl David Hotel represents excellent value for money. The rooms were very clean and the beds and linen very comfortable. The bathrooms were modern and again very clean. Free onsite parking and access to the outstanding food (some of the best meals i have ever eaten) in the downstairs restaurant for lunch and dinner completed the stay. Service from the staff was exceptional. Looking for a central place to stay in Fife that's close to the water then I highly recommend the Earl David Hotel.
All in all, it was good value and we had a comfortable stay. Owners and staff were friendly and helpful. We had an interesting chat with the new owner and his wife, who took over the hotel a year ago and have clearly made good progress in upgrading the place. They shared their plans for further improvements and I look forward to returning at a later stage to see what they have achieved. The hotel is situated in a nice village in rural Fife with easy access to the town of Dunfermline
We stayed one night and were in the process of walking the Fife Coastal Path, having started to the north of St Andrews. The Aberdour Hotel was a perfect place to stop, the facilities are good and the staff were warm and very friendly. We ate dinner in the restaurant, which was pretty good. The breakfast was also great and it really set us up for a day of walking. The Aberdour Hotel is also 5 minutes walk to both the railway station and bus stop, which could be very useful.
Lovely hotel with the most wonderful and helpful staff. The friendly and helpful staff really made the stay but the room was also very comfortable and met all of our needs. Full Scottish breakfast was delicious. We also ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was great and a good value. This hotel met all of our needs while walking the Fife Coastal Way and I would recommend to anyone who will be in the area.
Super little apartment, ideal for our 2 night stay in Kirkcaldy. Stewart, the host, was very flexible in accommodating our check in/out request. Apartment was well equipped with a few little extras added which was a nice touch. Easy walking distance to town centre and Fife Coastal Path. The flat and surrounding area is very quiet so a good night’s sleep is guaranteed. Hope to stay again.
St. Andrews
A very comfortable and welcoming small Hotel with well appointed rooms finished to a very high standard. The breakfast is cooked to order and one of the best I have had anywhere, likewise the evening meals are of a high standard and cooked to order. The Hotel is well situated in the pretty village of Kingsbarns and makes a good base for exploring St Andrews and the East Neuk of Fife.
Excellent hotel, an ideal place to explore Fife from. Hotel is very modern, and the furnishings and fittings are very high quality. The staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for the hotel. The surroundings around the hotel are very attractive, and there is very little noise, so you get a lovely peaceful sleep. The food quality is excellent, and very varied.
Cellardyke
Trouble with the key code immediately rectified by a 30 second 'phone call. Apartment was excellent, well furnished and clean, great location and very quiet. Close to the town and all it's amenities, near the harbour and the Fife Coastal Path. Parking wasn't really a problem, just a bit fiddly, but to be expected at such a location.
Excellent value for money and the location was perfect for us. The hotel is located in Fife Leisure Park, so there are multiple facilities in walking distance (restaurants, multiplex cinema, spa, indoor golf, bowling alley). Staff were generally helpful and obliging and the adjoining hotel restaurant serves amazing breakfasts.
Magical location above the beach with the Fife Coastal Trail nearby . The apartment was very comfortable with the living room and bedroom upstairs and the kitchen and dining room with windows looking out to the sea. There were a washer and dryer so we were able to do our laundry The owners were very accommodating.
Very comfortable, well appointed 2 bedroom apartment with private parking adjacent in reasonably central location in Anstruther within easy walking distance of cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops. Also good location for travelling to various golf courses around Fife and St Andrews. Simple to gain access.
Anstruther
It was a lovely little apartment.Absolutely spotless, comfortable and quiet. Well situated with the town a mere minutes walk away. Anstruther is a lovely base from where to explore the wonderful East Neuk of Fife. Will have no hesitation in booking it again for our annual pilgrimage through.
Dunfermline
Brucefield Avenue is a great place to stay as a home base to explore Fife and Edinburgh. The apartment was clean and comfortable. We appreciated the selection of DVDs for an evening movie night. The location is great too, being located close to the train station and a bus stop.
The apartment is so comfortable and clean. The location is just a few steps away from the harbour front and its shops/ excellent fish and chips. The reliable buses, which are good for linking up linear walks along the Fife Coastal Path, stop just around the corner too.
Anstruther
Right along the Fife Coastal Path and centrally located in the town of Anstruther, this hostel offers wonderful amenities in addition to its history. Lovely, bright, fully outfitted kitchen. Clean bathroom/shower. Multiple sitting rooms. Locked multi-guest dorm rooms.
Hotel was lovely. Room was really big and the views were stunning. Plenty of room. Also facilities were good. Bar and club at night were good. We got breakfaat in our room and portion size was really big. Excellent location for exploring Fife. We'll definitely be baxk
Ceres
Ceres is a very cute little village and well-positioned for touring Fife. Pleasant pub and local cafe, though service was very slow at breakfast. Shower was good. If the few things below particularly regarding cleanliness were addressed we would visit again.
St. Andrews
Lovely hotel in a nice countryside setting. Handy for exploring St. Andrews and the Fife coastal villages. The room was very comfortable and there were good choices for breakfast and evening meals. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
We loved the rustic feel of Kingswood Hotel, it felt cosy and was the perfect spot to spend a night while walking the Fife Coastal Path. The room was huge. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we loved the cooked breakfast!
