Château de Maraval

Hotel in Cénac-et-Saint-Julien

Hôtel de charme, proche de Sarlat la caneda en Dordogne, alliant un cadre extérieur ancien avec un aménagement contemporain et design. The property and its grounds were stunning. The attention to detail and personalisation was outstanding. The manager of the hotel gave us a tour of the building and grounds with information about its history which was really interesting and added a special touch. We were welcomed with exceptional service (and a complimentary arrival drink) and genuinely felt like nothing was too much for the staff. The room was decorated to perfection and had everything you’d think of needing. You have personal use of the spa area by giving a little notice which is something we’ve never had before. The grounds, decor, staff and breakfast were all perfect and genuinely can’t be faulted. We can’t wait to stay again in summer!

FAQs about hotels in Dordogne

A Classic French Delight

Hills, forests, excellent wine, truffles, foie gras, confit de canard, medieval villages and historic chateaux… What else would give you such a perfect backdrop for a classic French experience? That’s exactly why, after thousands of new worlds have been discovered, the Dordogne is still one of the most popular destinations.

Part of the Aquitaine Region and known as the old county of Périgord, it is usually divided into 4 different areas with distinctive characteristics, each offering charming hotels to enjoy Dordogne. It is also possible to find luxury hotels in Dordogne located in a refurbished chateaux and villas in the countryside.

The central area and the capital Périgueux are known for the limestone hills, wide valleys, and meadows. The north and north-west include the picturesque towns of Brantôme and Nontron, surrounded by fields and forests. The south-west area around Bergerac is the wine region of Périgord, while the south-eastern Vézère Valley and upper Dordogne Valley nest the medieval jewel of Sarlat-la-Canéda.

Sites that have also become popular include the prehistoric caves of Gouffre de Padirac and Lascaux. Canoeing in the Dordogne River is a classic that allows you to explore the region in a different way.
