Just a 20-minute drive from historic Durham, The Royal Oak is a family-run hotel offering a traditional restaurant, a bar, and free Wi-Fi throughout. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. We also ate there during the evening. The choice on the menu was great as were the meals! The bedroom was a fabulous size and the bathroom looked newly renovated, but get those towel hooks up Ian 😁. The staff were amazing and very helpful as were the hosts. We'd definitely return if we are in the area.

We had a friendly greeting on our arrival. The room was good with a comfortable bed and modern facilities - perfect for a couple. Breakfast was also very good. A bonus was secure off steet parking. Wonderful stay while completing the C2C. Very good location just off the main C2C route. Fantastic hosts, lovely pub, and delicious food that was very welcomed after a long day of cycling from Penrith. Will definitely be returning!
