Featuring a shared lounge, Hostel Miyagawa by Murasaki is located in the centre of Takayama, less than 1 km from Takayama Station. We loved everything about the hotel! Our room had nice view from outside the window. We met the guy at the reception and he was really kind and helpful to us! He spoke great english and gave us a map with many activities and recommendations for our stay in Takayama. I definitely recommend this hostel to any people looking for an affordable but traditional place for their stay, as well as it being very foreigner- friendly

Set in Shirakawa, 46 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, GuestHouse Shirakawa-Go INN offers air-conditioned accommodation and a shared lounge. This stay was HIGH above my expectation! 10/10. The facilities are very simple and VERY clean. We came in summer. The AC works very well. The staff was comprehensive and authentic. The staff’s outstanding service & hospitality rivaled luxury all-inclusives. Guests can also rent bikes on-site, which is the best way to see the smaller streets in town (outside of day-your hours). The downstairs lounge area is well-equipped. I have natural, curly, kinky hair and the water pressure was good and the water hot. They provide coffee, shampoo, conditioner, tea, body wash, towels, toothbrushes, and hairdryers. However I did not require these things as I had my own. Note to my fellow Americans: The staff are extremely accommodating already. I did see other American guests attempt to abuse this. Please: 1. Respect the check-in and check-out times. 2. Do not ask for free rides or to drop off your bag 6 hours early! There are at least 2 luggage storage facilities. 1 is located AT the bus station 10meters from the entrance and the other 20 meters. It’s $3 or $4. Keep it kind and respectful. You won’t regret choosing this location for the money. Great value and such a cozy feel.

Only a 2-minute walk from JR Takayama Station, K's House Takayama Oasis offers free WiFi throughout the property. We wanted to try a traditional japanese room... And it definitely didn't disappoint! We recommend it for anyone who wants to get a genuine feeling of just enjoying your stay. There was no TV in the room, but that just made it much better because we enjoyed our time in the evenings talking or reading. The staff was great (they were very nice) and the accommodation had a common area where we could drink tea or coffee and enjoy the room (which was beautiful). The location was perfect. Walking distance to everything we wanted to visit. We recommend it for sure!

Nice space outside of the city center. Lots of space to hang out and relax, huge kitchen and outdoor relaxing area, close to bus stop.

Set in Takayama, within 3.8 km of Takayama Station and 4.9 km of Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, Natural Onsen Hostel Hidamari no Yu offers accommodation with a shared lounge and free WiFi throughout... The place is really good, and the onsen is very nice, The staff is very nice and helpful, There is not a close bus station but they provide shuttle to takayama station, We really enjoyed our stay!

Attractively situated in the Hida Takayama Onsen district of Takayama, Backpackers Hida Takayama is situated 3.1 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, 49 km from Gero Station and 400 metres from... The pods were really comfortable and all the washrooms were spotlessly clean. All of the kitchen facilities were great! And even better, the washing machines and driers are free to use! You just need washing detergent- which is available for 100Yen.

Situated in Takayama, 2.1 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, Tomato Takayama Station features views of the city. This 2-star hostel offers a shared kitchen, a shared lounge and free WiFi. We were accomodated in different place than was advertised, so I cannot review anything. Price was high, but it could be because of the autumn festival that was happening that day.
