The hostel and the staff are great, we had a great time, the place is close and convenient to interesting attractions in the city, the hostel is comfortable, clean and pleasant and the staff is welcoming. It feels like a traditional Japanese house but had modern facilities (heated toilets, electric blankets…) The location is far from the station but the staff is kind enough to shuttle you over in the morning. Just be aware that the public buses don’t run at night.

The location was remarkable, the morning market is 2-3 minutes walk. Everything else is less 15-20 minutes. The shower was powerful! Didn’t expect that from a hostel. The property was very clean.

Situated in Takayama, 2.1 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, Tomato Takayama Station features views of the city. This 2-star hostel offers a shared kitchen, a shared lounge and free WiFi. We were accomodated in different place than was advertised, so I cannot review anything. Price was high, but it could be because of the autumn festival that was happening that day.
