J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse ligger i Hongu, 10 minuters bilresa eller 70 minuters promenad längs pilgrimsleden Kumano Kodo från kustorten Kumano Hongu Taisha. Exceptional Guesthouse. I must thank the Manager (did not get his name) for refunding me for a night's stay as there was a change in plans. He was very, very kind. I loved the in-house onsen.

民宿 和合 Minshuku WAGO ligger i Tanabe, inom 2 minuters promenad från Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art och 29 km från Kamitonda konserthall, och erbjuder boende med gratis cyklar och gratis WiFi i alla... Very convenient stop along the Kumano-Kodo route. We brought our own food for dinner and the host set up a nice table outside for us. Everything was very clean and the host is really nice.

AJITO Hostel & CafeBar ligger i Shingū, 6 minuters promenad från Shingu Castle Ruins Park, och erbjuder boende med gratis cyklar, gratis privat parkering och en bar. Very clean and modern, excellent quality amenities were provided. Everything was done with a lot of thought and care. I felt so relaxed to arrive after a long travel day to a place so comfortable. Loved the pajamas too. The owner is also very friendly and accommodating - we went to his restaurant for dinner and the food was amazing and everyone was sooo welcoming

Surf Imin G-Sun ligger i Wakayama, 2 km från Kasai Park, och erbjuder boende med gratis cyklar, gratis privat parkering, en trädgård och en terrass. The owner has a good energy and very respectful I guess to all kind of guest either you like to stay quiet or being friendly. I could see his good care for the comfort in every corner. I enjoyed his expression and I respect his transparency. Cool owner. Thank you for all kindness and openness.

Lovely little guesthouse with three rooms. Very cosy shared living area. You sleep on tatamis (comfortable!) and bathroom facilities are shared. We arrived by car and there was parking. Our host gave us some excellent recommendations around town. It’s in a residential neighbourhood about a 10 minute walk down to the beach and the tourist area, which is really nice (as the centre of town feels a bit touristy)

くまの蔵inn Warehouse ligger i Shingū, 13 minuters promenad från Kamikura Shrine, och erbjuder boende med gratis cyklar, gratis privat parkering och en trädgård. The host Koji drove us to our Kumano River tour the next day which was a 20 minute drive and he did it very generously for us. He was very flexible with our check-in time and was extremely gracious and friendly and helpful and made sure we were very comfortable and then left us alone. The apartment was great for four people and it was quirky and spotless and charming. I would definitely stay again.

Guest House Suzumeno Kakurembo ligger i Koyasan, 37 km från Kishi Station, och har en restaurang, rökfria rum samt gratis WiFi. Detta pensionat med 2 stjärnor har bagageförvaring. Very genuinely kind staff. The room is very comfortable with complete amenities. The adjoining restaurant/cafe also provided delicious food for dinner and breakfast. Totally recommended for people who want to enjoy Koyasan but wanting to save on accommodation by not staying in the temples.

Guest House hachi hachi ligger i Koyasan, inom 43 km från Matsushita Park och 45 km från Wanpaku Park. Detta pensionat med 1 stjärna har luftkonditionerade rum med delat badrum och gratis WiFi. So clean !!!! The owner was so helpful

宿坊 大泰寺 Temple Hotel Daitai-ji ligger i Shimosato i regionen Wakayama och erbjuder boende med gratis WiFi och gratis privat parkering. Beautiful temple interiors and gardens, relaxing time by the river, very friendly staff and most of all, the experiences that you can book when staying there: zen meditation, meal appreciation, and copying of sutras, all with the chief monk himself who had a lot of patience to answer all our questions.

Guesthouse Yui har ett perfekt läge i området Hongucho Hongu i Hongu, 8,5 km från Hosshinmon Oji Shrine, 23 km från Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art och 24 km från Kumanoshi Kiwakozan Museum. I was so fortunate to choose Guesthouse Yui to spend over a week doing Kumano Kodo and stay for Christmas. I used it as a base to walk the Nakahechi route, catching the bus to/from the trail each day, as required. Staying at Guesthouse Yui made all this much easier and more enjoyable. The owner-operator Sanae-san is such a welcoming and caring host. She made my stay like a home-away-from-home. I had the tatami room nearest the entrance which was spacious, clean and warm. I made use of the common area for writing, emailing, watching TV. I was fortunate to be there during a slower time which made it not so busy, apparently. Regardless, Sanae-san put on a hot pot for 4 of us guests one night which was superb. The shower/bath facilities at the guesthouse are very good but I didn't use these much as there is an excellent community public bath a 5 minute walk away (and only 200 yen!). Mad if you don't use it. Kumano Hongo Taisha bus stop and the "town centre" is a 5 minute walk away. Here the dining options are good but very few. Sanae provides full use of the kitchen with stove, rice cooker, microwave etc if you want to cook. She also provides basic items such as beer, packet rice etc to purchase. I highly recommend Iwatani-san's Ramen restaurant on Monday and Tuesday nights, and Miyazushi the other nights.
