J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse is situated in Hongu, a 10-minute drive away or a 70-minute walk on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route from Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. Eccentric place run by a very friendly and interesting person. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

簡易宿所 ふくろく is located in Shingu, less than 1 km from Kamikura Shrine, a 13-minute walk from Shingu Castle Ruins Park, as well as 1.4 km from Kumano Hayatama Taisha. The owner is the soul of hospitality. The place is spotless and the bed is the most comfortable I’ve slept in so far while walking the Kumano Kodo. Plus, right across the street of a real supermarket so great location.

Located in Shingu in the Wakayama region, with Kamikura Shrine and Kumano Hayatama Taisha nearby, 長徳寺宿坊 Temple Hotel provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The Temple Hotel is perhaps a bit of a misnomer. There are lots of temples in the area, which is a lovely traditional residential area, plenty small restaurants, and it's a short pleasant walk to Kumano Hayatama Taisha, one of the grand Kumano shrines. The guest accommodation, just two rooms, is in a rather drab road-facing building, but the rooms are huge, have a kitchenette and huge amounts of free alcohol included. The hotel is, in fact, run by the monks of the temple on the same compound, and the temple is lovely and free to visit, but the accommodation is modern. What's also good is that the bus stop for the Kumano Kodo sites is less than 100m from the hotel. I paid 51 Euro for one night, pretty okay given my relatively late booking, the size of the room and the amenities and tourist-friendly location. It can be a bit hard to find, as there are many temples in the area. The entrance is from the main road, and there is an okonomiyaki place right by the entrance. It is also good to inform the staff when you will be arriving, as the staff do work at the temple and there is no formal reception desk.

200 metres from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, 民宿 和合 Minshuku WAGO is a recently renovated property set in Tanabe and offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. My highest recommendations! What a lovely small town and Ike is an amazing host. I also recommend having japanese style breakfast, it was such a nice experience sitting outside overlooking the hills was a higly appreciated way to start the day. A tip is to use the freezer for water bottles in summer time!

Situated just 500 metres from Shingu Castle Ruins Park, AJITO Hostel & CafeBar provides accommodation in Shingu with access to free bikes, a bar, as well as full-day security. The room and facilities are clean. The location is very good. It’s near the bus stop and the convenience store. And if you wake up early like me and there’s no bus at that time, you still able walk to the Shingu station. The hostel has 4 bicycles to be borrowed with no charge. You can ride it around the city.

Situated in Wakayama with Kasai Park nearby, Surf Imin G-Sun features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a sauna. The owner has a good energy and very respectful I guess to all kind of guest either you like to stay quiet or being friendly. I could see his good care for the comfort in every corner. I enjoyed his expression and I respect his transparency. Cool owner. Thank you for all kindness and openness.

ゲストハウス三軒家, a property with a garden and a shared lounge, is set in Shirahama, less than 1 km from Ezura Beach, a 16-minute walk from Shirarahama Beach, as well as 2 km from Rinkaiura Beach. I love the whole set. We are traveling with my family and friends family. It is such a good fit. Super friendly host and provided us very useful advise on restaurant etc. free parking any way we enjoyed the entire stay wish to stay longer especially kids love the play room.

Host was incredibly welcoming and helpful. He searched and found information for us and even offered to help us make reservations for activities. We stayed here during the winter, but the place was warm and comfortable. It had everything we needed plus free condiments. We would love to stay here again!

Featuring 2-star accommodation, Guest House Suzumeno Kakurembo is set in Koyasan, 37 km from Kishi Station and 44 km from Matsushita Park. Agree with all of the many positive reviews. The hosts were so friendly, gracious and welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was a very enjoyable and easy walk to the village and many temples. The common areas and shared gender-specific bathroom were all spotless.

Offering quiet street views, Guest House hachi hachi is an accommodation situated in Koyasan, 37 km from Kishi Station and 43 km from Matsushita Park. Host speaks English and gave very helpful information about activities in the area. Excellent breakfast. Felt welcomed.
