Walking distance to star attractions in Arashiyama such as the Bamboo Forest and Togetsukyo Bridge. The resort was a traditional ryokan with modern comforts and amenities, set just away enough to be peaceful and quiet at night. It was clean and comfortable, and we especially enjoyed the onsens - there was an indoor and outdoor onsen, as well as private baths available. Drinks, ice cream and even ramen are available for free. The traditional Japanese breakfast was quite an experience as well. We were there over Christmas and they had small seasonal activities and treats in the lobby.

Renovated in 2014, Hotel Binario Saga Arashiyama offers a restaurant, a café and a public bath. JR Sagaarashiyama Train Station and Torokko Saga Station is just a minutes’ walk away. The location was the best right next to the station we came from only walked 150 feet right to my room

I’d say this hotel is underrated. We stayed here when we visited places around/near Arashiyama so I won’t say that the location is bad. You just have to plan your trip and map it out. Staff were great, I can speak a little japanese but they can converse well in english, too. Room was great and spacious - and the sunrise view from our balcony was beyond perfect. The building is classic and well-maintained. They have a shuttle going to Saga Arashiyama station, but I don’t mind the 10-15 mins. morning walk.
