The Quinta is by the Douro River, and we had a beautiful twin room with a balcony facing the river. I recommend asking for a room higher up to have this view. The restaurant is fantastic, amazing food. The surroundings are gorgeous too. Very helpful and pleasant staff too.

Boasting a rooftop pool and views of garden, Alminhas da Mindua is a recently renovated country house situated in Vitorino dos Piães, 27 km from Shipyards of Viana do Castelo. Where should I start? Ana - one of the owners - treated me like family from the very first second. She showed me around the property and explained everything. She insisted that i try / use the swimming pool. Just what I needed after 2 days of walking from Porto. Bit of swimming, followed by some chilling in the garden looking at the hills nearby. In the meantime, I left my dirty clothes outside of the room and they got washedand dried by them (for a small fee). After taking a shower I went downstairs to have dinner. And what an amazing dinner I had. Soup as a starter, with a couple of rolls and butter / cheese spread. Then a traditional north Portuguese meal (something like a sausage with chicken, beef and pork) with rice and salad. Then Ana brought me a few cookies too, they were delicious. They have a ton of different wines but i don't drink so did not try them. Once I finished with my dinner, we talked about breakfast as I left early, so Ana made sandwiches for me to take away with juice box, a boiled egg and a bottle of water. 100% recommend to visit this place it was worth every penny. The building is brand new, they only opened a few months ago. Although it is next to the main road, the soundproofing was great and did not hear anything. I'd go back in a heartbeat! Ana and her family made me fell like home.

Moinhos do Paiva is set in Castelo de Paiva and features a private pool and mountain views. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. Nuno is an outstanding host. He seems to have a special worldview. His place looks like a piece of heaven, he welcomed us with open arms, gave us recommendations around the village, allowed us to use all the facilities - unlimited pool, kitchen and public living room, check out until 2pm with an elaborate breakfast. He suggested us to stay even after checking out to use these facilities. The environment gives quality time with nature, we rested and enjoyed. Only one minor thing-the road to the place includes sharp descents with narrow road-alleys that only good drivers can manage. Thank you for the time in Paradise Nuno. We will definitely come back to stay.
