Despite the unstable weather conditions I felt safe and enjoyed my tea time when there was need to stay indoors. -I received some sensible advice and was fortunate to be at the amazing 建仁寺 illumination experience which I had no idea before. -There was even a night tour, I learnt so much about the Geisha culture and had an unforgettable night view, the host’s passion for Kyoto was infectious.

Located within 700 metres of Shoren-in Temple and 1.2 km of Samurai Kembu Kyoto, Azukiya provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Kyoto. Everything, from the kindness of the host to the atmosphere. The little garden behind the room was amazing and relaxing. We had to spend time in the room because of the weather so it was amazing to feel at home. There was the chance to rent the bike from the host (normal and electric ones) and it was beautiful to visit Kyoto in a different way.

六根ゲストハウス Rokkon guest house features accommodation located less than 1 km from the centre of Kyoto and offers a garden and a terrace. A very cozy place overall. Kayoko's hospitality was exceptional, both professional and genuine. We want to revisit if we go back to Kyoto.

I LOVE the style it’s been kept in and how nice the staff was during my stay. The Japanese breakfast was delicious and they always ask if there’s something you can’t beforehand. Ideally located in the centre of Kyoto, Kokonoe Machiya offers air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge. I spend 4 nights there and Toni is one of the best hosts I've ever met! He put so much love in this place to make it in a traditional style :) This house has everything you need and even more.

Family Inn Kei 慶 features accommodation within 3.2 km of the centre of Kyoto, with free WiFi, and a kitchenette with an oven, a microwave and a toaster. Everything was wonderful, especially washing machine and balcony for drying clothes.

Set in Kyoto, less than 1 km from Gion Shijo Station and 1.5 km from the centre, Woman Only Guesthouse Nanohana (Female only) offers air-conditioned accommodation with free WiFi, and a shared lounge. My 13 year old daughter and I stayed in a double room for 3 nights while we explored Kyoto. We both felt at home immediately. The common space was welcoming and enjoyable to hang out in, our beds were comfortable, and the shared bathroom and shower were clean and comfortable. I’m not sure if it’s always this way, but the other guests were quiet and polite and respectful. Wish we could have stayed here longer!
