Set amid the shops on Alton's main street "Not to be confused with Alton (the home of Alton Towers) in the Midlands" the Swan Hotel is a historical building that dates back to 1377. Amazingly helpful staff with great service and friendly attitude, warmly decorated, clean rooms. A great location in the middle of Alton. Would definitely be back again.

It was at a convenient location for my visit, walking distance to Jane Austen house or Alton. Alternatively you can take the bus. It's cute, tiny, but has everything needed for a short stay. It was quiet during the night. The pub next to it had really good dinner and breakfast, with attentive staff and nice local people hanging out.

Beautiful inn with comfortable rooms and very kind and helpful staff. My daughter and I shared a room and they appointed it with hot chocolate and tea, the TV had good kids programs available and the downstairs pub had kids menus and was very kind to children overall. It was also stylishly decorated with beautiful country touches, delicious food and drinks, and the outdoor garden was lovely.
