The cleanliness, amenities, location, and nice little details like the fireplace, the murphy bed, the fully equipped kitchen, and the hot tub. I loved that they allow you to use the underground parking on the day of check out (you have all day). The room was more than great for 3 people. The view was amazing too!
Hotel in James Bay, Victoria ( 0.3 miles)
Featuring an indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub, this Victoria oceanfront hotel is located around the Inner Harbour, only 15 minutes' walk from the city centre. The hotel location was superb, on the waterfront in a quiet area, near to the Fisherman's Wharf but also within walking distance of downtown. The facilities were first class and the staff were unfailingly charming and helpful. We ate in their Blue Crab restaurant and found the food and presentation to be very good. On the basis of this experience we would definitely stay in this hotel or other Coast hotels again. I believe that they are owned by Japanese management and it shows in their attention to detail and service.

Built in 1897, this historic Victoria mansion provides free WiFi in all rooms. The Pendray restaurant features traditional afternoon tea service Monday and Tuesday from 11:00 to 14:00. Wonderful place to stay, enjoy and relax.
This is a town to be visited on foot except for the famous Butchart Gardens. But these can be reached by public bus, shuttle, taxi and Uber. There are restaurants and very good shops on the streets, which are quite safe, even including a pedestrian avenue. Apart from the famous Butchart Gardens (a must see), visitors can enjoy the Royal British Columbia Museum, with its permanent and temporary exhibits, as well as an Imax theater, the Miniature Museum, China Town, the Harbour, the Parliament building, etc. A little far from central Victoria, is Craidarrogh Castle (long walk or taxi ride). Several places offer afternoon tea (British style).
Victoria is a wonderful walking city. We never drove anywhere while here. We walked or took the bus. There is a lot to see and do here. We mainly came to see a Christmas concert (which was outstanding), but also went to the RBC Museum, to several lovely restaurants and had a walk in Beacon Hill Park. We also visited Craigdarroch Castle.
I think the overall mistake we made was we only stayed for a night. We needed to spend a few nights there to get a more complete feel for the area, learn about the attractions and which restaurants would be worth our time. A very beautiful place.
Victoria has a blend of history and heritage, great Canadian service and warmth and a location to explore Vancouver island. Some great restaurants in town, but worth planning ahead and plenty of sights. Where else can you be in a bug museum one minute (and enjoy it!) and then be walking amongst totem poles the next? All good!
I enjoyed seeing the Butterfly Gardens and Butchart Gardens. I also found the Royal Museum exhibits to be interesting. My husband and I enjoyed an excellent dinner at the Rebar Modern Food Restaurant. I ordered their small dinner salad, which turned out to be huge with an assortment of delicious, well prepared and presented vegetables! It was a great value for the money. I hope to return to Victoria this summer to visit the Gardens again and eat at Rebar. Next time I plan to visit the Bug Zoo too!
Relatively small city but beautiful city with lots of places and the weather is forgiving compared to other Canadian cities. Transit can take longer waits and no train is available. Hire a car and you’ll be fine
