The mother and son that run the place are so kind. Each day before I set out for my hikes the proprietor handed me a bag of snacks. There is also two wonderful private onsens that were free each time I sought to use them. Lovely place.

Multiple onsens on site, with both indoor and outdoor baths available. Everything was very clean. Staff went above and beyond when the wife forgot her phone charger in the room. Mailing it on to our next hotel in Osaka for us, we can't thank you enough.

Featuring 4-star accommodation, Shelter Garden Nikko is located in Nikko, 2.1 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine and 3.4 km from Tobu Nikko Station. The customer service was beyond excellent, the staff were very attentive and caring and accommodating. The hotel is beautifully and thoughtfully designed. the room was spacious, comfortable, gorgeous with massive picture windows. It's out in nature, no wires or buildings or people in sight. The included breakfast, which they adapted to be vegetarian for me, was one of the best and healthiest meals we had in all of our Japan travels.

Set in Nakagawa and only 10 km from Nakagawa Aquatic Park, Iizukatei offers accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. It was the first time we ventured out from a major metropolitan area in Japan and we are glad that we chose Iizukatei. The breakfast served in our room every morning was exceptional. The staff was super attentive and always went out of their way to help us with reservations, driving us around and arranging activities.

Located in Nikko, near Kegon Falls, Chuzenji Lake and Nikko Futarasan-Jinja Nantaisan Okumiya, Hotel Hanaan features an open-air bath. Everything well thought out, wonderfully helpful staff, beautiful food, great views, comfy room, glorious onsen. If I ever return to Nikko, I won’t hesitate to re-book and stay in one of their Japanese rooms again!

36 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine in Nikko, Minshuku Fukufuji offers accommodation with access to a hot spring bath. Hospitality was beyond amazing. Absolutely worth the trip for an authentic Japanese guesthouse stay. The food was fantastic and ambiance was so enjoyable.
