Each day before I set out for my hikes the proprietor handed me a bag of snacks. There is also two wonderful private onsens that were free each time I sought to use them. Lovely place.

Both the dinner and the breakfast buffet were excellent, with a large variety of dishes being served, and always getting refilled. Smiling staff clearing away empty plates, and letting everyone know when the kitchen will be closing so that you don't miss anything. Multiple onsens on site, with both indoor and outdoor baths available. Everything was very clean. Staff went above and beyond when the wife forgot her phone charger in the room. Mailing it on to our next hotel in Osaka for us, we can't thank you enough.

Featuring 4-star accommodation, Shelter Garden Nikko is located in Nikko, 2.1 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine and 3.4 km from Tobu Nikko Station. The customer service was beyond excellent, the staff were very attentive and caring and accommodating. The hotel is beautifully and thoughtfully designed. the room was spacious, comfortable, gorgeous with massive picture windows. It's out in nature, no wires or buildings or people in sight. The included breakfast, which they adapted to be vegetarian for me, was one of the best and healthiest meals we had in all of our Japan travels.

It was the first time we ventured out from a major metropolitan area in Japan and we are glad that we chose Iizukatei. The breakfast served in our room every morning was exceptional. The staff was super attentive and always went out of their way to help us with reservations, driving us around and arranging activities.
