The onsen was excellent, especially the outdoor stone onsen. The staff was very helpful. Before bedtime, they helped us to prepare our futon bed. The Japanese breakfast was delicious and nicely served. We had a room with tatami with ample space. The children loved it a lot. There was a shuttle bus driving between the train station and the hotel. It was very convenient.

Delicious dinner and they made us a packed breakfast of rice balls to eat on the road (as we were wanting to leave early to hike the Kumano Kodo). Lovely building and rooms. Kind and helpful staff.

Located in Suizawa, 22 km from Suzuka Circuit, Tabist Miya Yokkaichi Suizawa provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. I was expecting ordinary cheap accommodation, but I got a pleasant stay in an old Japanese house. Bathroom and toilet outside the room, but extremely clean and comfortable. You can have breakfast or dinner in the bistro next door. There are tea plantations around, a beautiful environment. In the category of "cheap accommodation", it is absolutely exceptional.

Set 39 km from Kumano Hayatama Taisha, Owase Seaside View features accommodation in Owase with access to a public bath. It is located 20 km from Ubuta Shrine and offers a lift. Amazing accommodations and amenities, beautiful view, a good onsen available basically all the time, and amazing food. I highly recommend booking the sea view room, and getting breakfast and dinner included. The quality of service blew us away. All the staff are extremely kind, and the dinners we had here were our favourites from our trip.

Offering sea views, Ise-Shima Ohtaya Healing Stay is an accommodation situated in Toba, 29 km from Ise Grand Shrine and 29 km from Oharai-machi. I really like this place. The female owner has an inquisitive mind, a warm personality, and a kind heart. Her English is good enough to communicate and ask for help. The sauna and the private onsen in the room are top-notch. I did not check the public onsen with natural hot spring, but heard it's amazing too. I booked the 5th floor with an ocean view, and the private onsen experience during starry night and the set rise were indeed amazing! The hotel itself is located in a remote little cute fish town called osatsucho, where you can find fishmen and women harvesting and selling the Ise lobsters in the morning by the port. It was a very unique and interesting experience to stay in that little town for two days during the winter when it was not crowded at all. The nearest convenience store is 10 + miles away. It was a very natural, grounding, even retreat-like experience to me, and it was drastically different from my experience in Tokyo, Nayoga, or Osaka. I did spot a few demolished houses with broken windows in the town, not sure if it's because of COVID or during the winter when there were fewer tourists. The big plus is the Shinmei shrine next door to the hotel, which is a very calming and spiritual place to visit and stay for a bit too.

Magnificent view from the window. Cuisine and service. A variety of very tasty Japanese dishes. Unique architecture. Indigenous Japanese look and feel inside and outside. A lot of spectacular places in the vicinity. MeotoIwa is within about 20 km.

Located a 2-minute walk from Iseshi Train Station, Isegekusando Iseshinsen offers free Wi-Fi throughout the property and indoor/outdoor hot spring baths. This place is a gem. It's walking distance from the Ise train station, and right along a nice shopping street, so it gets high marks for convenience. In addition to an onsen, our room had a separate soaking tub with hot water, which was absolutely great. We also got breakfast and dinner, which was absolutely delicious. It's a lot of food, but it's all beautifully prepared and the service is impeccable. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

Situated just 1.2 km from Hinatahama Beach, お宿行灯鳥羽 features accommodation in Toba with access to an open-air bath, a shared lounge, as well as a 24-hour front desk. We really enjoyed our stay. Well maintained and clean rooms with great views. Very nice breakfast too. Hope to be back again. Special mention for personalised service by the lady receptionist on evening duty. My little son struck up a rapport with her. Unfortunately we did not get her name, but she mentioned that she has been in Toba for over a year. Thank you!

To start off, if you arrive at Toba Train Station between 1430-1800, they provide free shuttle service to the hotel, which otherwise would be a 20 minute walk. Look for their name beside their car. The staff were friendly to a fault and even if they can't keep up with English, they'd do anything to help you. The place is old, that's what you get for looking for an onsen ryokan but it's well maintained and the cuisine offered was faultless.

Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Todaya is located in Toba. The property is a 3-minute walk from JR Toba station and is a convenient location from where to tour Ise-Shima. The breakfast was delicious. The food tasted very fresh. We especially appreciated that many of the food stations had attendants preparing the dishes. It got very busy at one point, but we never had an issue getting our food. The shuttle to and from Toba Station was very convenient. We contacted the staff from a payphone at Toba Station. We were able to communicate our needs through our very limited knowledge of the Japanese language. The driver took our luggage and said they would store it till we checked in. This allowed us to continue on with our sightseeing plans without physically going to the hotel first. That really helped maximize our time in Toba! Wonderful Service!
