Liked it so much we stayed an extra night! Exceptional staff. They even dropped us at the train station in the morning so we could have an excursion. How this is only a 3 star hotel I will never know. Go here, you won't regret it. Amazing value

Meals were easily the most intricate and most sophisticated of all the Ryokans I've tried. They go out of their way to showcase Akita specialties, which I really appreciate as it means I need not travel to restaurants specially to try them. They provide a private dining room and I cheekily thought to myself that this is so you can lick your plate clean! Indeed it was so delicious that if the Michelin inspectors came, I am sure they will get a star. Best service out of all the ryokans I went to - everyone is super attentive and super responsive. On the booking.com app, they were the most prompt to respond to messages. They had good recommendations for me on what I could do around Lake Tazawako and the surrounding area. Other examples of exemplary service: They took the initiative to ask me if I would like a picture with my meal (as I was a solo traveller). How delightful! Out of all the ryokans I stayed in, this is the only one who did that. Another example: they asked me if they could clean my room while I am out. This is unlike other hotels and ryokans that instead ask if I would like my room cleaned (assuming that the default is no). The room was of a most excellent layout with good separation of different areas and a good size such that it makes you feel like you are living in your own apartment and not so much a resort. The bed was also very comfortable - there is something special about the bed linens. They were so refreshing to the touch and so comfortable. At every corner there are thoughtful gestures - a little bench for you to admire a view, the tatami flooring throughout. Every effort has been made to make it a special and premium experience. Even the toilet is larger than some of what I’ve seen and has charming and tasteful decorations. I am so glad I tried out Kashintei Shirahama and hope to be back!

Top-tier luxury. This place is what you get when you give someone a very generous budget and ask them to dream up the most comfortable Ryokan they can think of. The whole place was in tatami mats and it was comfortable to walk about barefoot or with socks. The baths themselves were the best out of all the ryokans that I have tried. They offered a range of different shampoos and soaps, and multiple indoor and outdoor baths - ranging from stone/natural baths to wooden tubs. There is also a sauna and cold bath, and it is here that I discovered the adrenaline rush and relaxation that comes with alternating between a hot sauna and cold bath. There are also privates baths (yes there are two!) that are free for use, unlike other ryokans that charge you for them. There are free treats everywhere - ice pops and milk (my favourite!) at the baths, various snacks and drinks (coffee, various teas, vinegar drink and even beer and shochu!). Then at 10-10.30pm, you can get a bowl of ramen, with the Akita specialty: Fish Shottsuru. Best, most premium and complete bath amenities out of all the ryokans I have visited. They also have well-placed cold water dispenser and places where you can simply sit after your bath to enjoy the view. They also offer a "pillow library" where you can personally compare different types of pillows and choose the ones that you like best! Best facilities out of all the ryokans I've been to (perhaps to make up for the lack of things to do by way of local attractions and how isolated it is). There are traditional Japanese children's games, origami and even a quaint library. Layout of the room is great too - I like that there is a separate "reception" area where you can keep your bags and clothes separate from the main sleeping/living quarters. I also like the little table in front of the window - perfect for a quiet reflection.

Aoni Sanso asub Senbokus, Nyuto kuumaveeallikast 7,6 km kaugusel. Kohapeal on kuumaveeallika, avaliku sauna ja vabaõhuvanni kasutamise võimalus. Nice place, nice onsen, good food! But you need a car to get to it!

Järvevaate, tasuta WiFi-ühenduse ja tasuta eraparklaga Katakurinohana asub Senbokus, 15 km kaugusel Nyuto kuumaveeallikast. Morioka jaam jääb 49 km kaugusele. The location is strategic, close to Lawson and petrol station if you are driving and offer shuttle bus to train station. Public one is good, with one indoor and 2 outdoor pools with temperature around 41 degrees C for the indoor pool. And private bath is available, first come first serve, and nice lake view.

Misato Town Community Lodge Wakuasu asub Daisenis, Omagari jaamast 11 km kaugusel. Kohapeal on tasuta WiFi-ühendus ja tasuta eraparkla. Kahetärnihotell asub Kakunodate jaamast 26 km kaugusel.

Excellent onsen hotel. Great amenities and the large bath is open throughout the night (3pm to 6:30am). Great breakfast.

Hotell Kazuno asub Kazunos, Towada järvest 27 km kaugusel. Kohapeal on tasuta WiFi-ühendus, mäevaated, aed ning saun ja kuumaveeallikavann. The Hotel is excellent, it is nearby lake Towada. It is great to have vacation during Fall.

Aia ja konditsioneeriga Nishiki Onsen Kurion asub Senbokus, 37 km kaugusel Nyuto kuumaveeallikast ja 8,8 km kaugusel Kakunodate jaamast. Kohapeal on restoran, tasuta eraparkla ja tasuta WiFi-ühendus. I would say it's clean and cozy. Personally, I enjoy Japanese-style bedrooms, so it was good enough for me. It's also easy to get to Tazawako if you'd like to visit.

The first thing that came to my mind was the food. Both dinner and breakfast were undeniably yummy for our liking. The place was well maintained, immaculately clean. Bedroom was spacious for the three of us. Futons were great. Staff members were helpful and able to speak English.
