Great place to visit for its Cultural events, historic buildings, and relaxed atmosphere. Great departing place for other cities like Ajijic and Lake Chapala, The Historic Area is a must see! Thirty minutes from the Airport. Guadalajara is big! and has very good and inexpensive transportation, Be ready for the noise. Like in some other places in Mexico, Guadalajara is noisy. I will be back, though. My short stay was not enough to see and experience a lot of what Guadalajara has to offer. Very, very interesting part of Mexico! Recommended place to eat: "La Chata" Restaurant. Interesting experience, good food reasonably priced. Be prepared to wait in line, but the line moves fast. If you love music you must attend the Teatro Degollado for a Jalisco Phillarmonica's performance. Just great!
Guadalajara is truly a metropolitan area in the heart of Jalisco, México. One thing to keep in mind is this: be flexible and understanding of another culture that differs from your own. Guadalajara is full of many sightseeing areas, museums, shopping centers, and historical sites to view. It is about 4 hours away from Puerto Vallarta. I highly recommend to visit. For those who like to venture, boarding onto PrimeraPlus (the local public transportation on charter buses) is truly a great ride. Overall, Guadalajara is crowded, busy and always on the go!
The urban heart of Jalisco, Guadalajara is a sprawling city with lovely neighborhoods scattered amidst large industrial areas. Tlaquepaque, Centro Historico, and Zapopan are particularly noteworthy spots to visit to get a varied sense of the city and its culture. Uber and traditional taxis make getting around easy and cheap. Make sure to catch a mariachi or dance performance, a Chivas game, eat street tacos, or take day trips to Tequila, Lake Chapala, Guachimontones, or other nearby destinations to round out your visit. Be prudent about safety at night, but recognize that the vast majority of people are welcoming and proud to share their city.
When I was young, I had an extensive 2-months trip to Mexico, and had a recollection of Guadalajara as an excellent place. 35 years later, taking andvantage of a conference in the nearby Zapopan, I wanted to go back and see how much it has remained the city I loved to visit. Much to my surprise, Guadalajara has managed to keep up with the evolving times (the conference center in Zapopan is oe of the many examples) while keeping the atmosphere that I loved. People browsing in the afternoon in the extensive pedestrian areas in the city center, music popping up everywhere, a crowded market where you can get, among other things, excellent food for pennies, the kindness of the people, the favorable climate, all this builds up for an excellent vacation, where you can relax, attend cultural activities, enjoy food and drinks (not just Tequila, but some of the best DOC Tequilas anyway). Drawbacks? Indeed, there are some. Guadalajara is an evolving city. To solve the traffic problem they are building new collective transportation, right now a line of subway is being constructed, and that brings some inconvenience for the tourists. Also, the airport is being enlarged and the access roads improved, in view of the very likely increased touristic and business traffic, and that presents also some issues - but just plan to travel to the airport early enoughand the inconvenience will be minimized. And if you go to Guadalajara, do not forget two things: a visit to the village of Tequila (does this name ring a bell?) with the historic distilleries of what is now a DOC (controlled origin denomination) product; and the Jalisco Governmental Palace, with Orozco's murales and the museum, an essential insight in what Guadalajara (and Jalisco) contributed to the history of Mexico.
Tequila was my favorite town on our Jalisco trip. Learning about the process of making Tequila and tasting so many different ones was educational and fun. I loved all the different colors of the buildings around the town and enjoyed taking photos.I saw many smiling faces and met happy friendly people. Thanks Tequila! Best, Ron.
Tequila Jalisco was very nice place to visit really enjoyed it there and Guadalajara has some beautiful church u can visit
Easy to get to places. Easier than most Mexico cities. So much culture and places to admire and to have fun. The food is good, people is nice, Ubers are cheap compared to USA prices (taxis’ prices are fairly good but cash only). But more importantly, I felt safe. — I was there for a Chivas soccer game and visited el centro, la catedral, estadio Jalisco and estadio Akron.
The room, the bathroom and the entire room was super clean, the staff very helpful and ready to attend your requests, I was on the room #104 from Nov 7 to Nov 11, and whoever was in charge of the maintenance and keeping up with the supplies of any room at that level deserve my felicitations and hoping their supervisor pass my gratitude to the hard workers of the Hotel Gina in San Juan de los lagos Jalisco..
Location was good, but hotel doesn't have excess to the private beach at the ocean, like many other hotels. We were staying in Puerto Vallarta for the last 15 years: We stayed at Vamar, Krystal, Sol Melia, Bonaventure Mexican Charm, Rio Pacifico, Jalisco. In many hotels we stayed 2-3 times, because we like it.
The King Beds, and cleanliness
location was excellent. staff were absolutely accommodating.
The staff were so and the facilities were beautiful and the evening shows were superb! There were many choices of food and drink as well.
Well maintained close to amenities ie. pharmacy, doctors buses taxis
The marriage of 1694 Hacienda with simple elegant modern amenities in a great natural setting, as well as the attention to details which made this stay memorable. We will be back.
The location is the best. The staff should be commended for the cleanliness. People are so friendly. The rooms could use a little upgrading and a coffee maker in the room would be a bonus. The beds were comfy and nice hot showers! All in all we loved Playa Los Aros!
Very quite, surrounded by nature, very kind courteous staff.. nice boutique hotel.. Liked very much
I loved my room location, building location and all the staff!
The entire staff was perfect! Always ready to assist you and the office could answer any question you have!
Everything. It’s different and beautiful
We usually stay in Monteverde, it has wonderful views, it's safe for the kids to play around and also there's enough distance btw each cabin to feel privacy. Staff is always nice and helpful
I loved the delicious food and the location and view of the lake. I also liked that there were multiple pools with different tempratures. The gardening was also exceptional.
This boutique hotel is in an incredibly beautiful spot overlooking the cove of Boca de Tomatlan. The grounds are lovely - great for a dip in the pool, a cocktail on the patio, or birdwatching by the fountain. The staff went over and above to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we wanted.
Would look to stay here next time
Wonderful staff, beautiful grounds, lovely owner, everyone was very attentive, and delicious food.
Modern hotel with a great pool and breakfast/brunch/dinner buffet...
